Work in Progress

This is newly opened and a lot of work still needs to be done. Currently there is no dog park, hiking trails or bathhouses like it states. Many of the spots aren’t even finished yet.

When looking at the camp map don’t plan on having access to the creek or river. Your lucky if you can even view it.

The ground is all sand. So while if it rains you won’t get muddy, but the sand is a pain and gets everywhere.

Great hikes

A great campground with tons of hiking spots nearby. If you can get a campsite backing up to the stream you should. Keep in mind though that those spots are really tight to fit in and you need a 30 foot or less RV. I loved the amount of hiking spots available near-by.

Close spots

Spots are extremely close together. Also, gravel is throughout the campground so don’t bother bringing bicycles. One of the great things about the campground is their dining facilities and all the activities they have for kids.

Near Trails

We enjoyed a full hookup site. The spots aren’t very spacious but there’s lots of trees nearby and an easy walk to get to Old Mans Cave. We enjoyed swimming in the pool. There’s outhouses with no running water but also a relatively new bath house with nice showers and toilets.

Some spots better than others

Spots in the outsides of the loops are more spacious. We looked forward to the “beach” but it was very small and covered in algae. The lake was more like a large pond. There’s no running water so toilets were basically out houses. Lots of trails but they weren’t very exciting.

First to Review
Concrete Jungle

A campground that has full hookups and really neat cabins. The campground was just completed Aug 2021. There are no big trees and lots are on top of one another. However, if this doesn’t bother you it’s really close to the Kings Island Amusement Park and also has a nice pool and activities.

Water access anytime

Bring a kayak or tube to have easy access the the water right on the campground! Spaces had plenty of room to spread out. It takes about 20 minutes to get to stores so make sure you’re prepared. There is a store on property for things you’ve forgotten though. Signs say no alcohol on the lake. We brought alcohol to our campsite and on the lake without anyone saying anything though.

Huge lake

This campground has a huge lake. The campground itself has a different access point than the state park. If you have a boat in our camping this is a really nice feature. We had a spot at the end of a loop in the cul-de-sac area. Those spots are the largest by far. They can fit about 3 to 4 RVs, although not permitted. We were camping in the early spring, So there wasn’t a lot of foliage yet. Hopefully in the summer there’s more shaded areas

Forest camping

Such a neat campground where many spots are on the side of a hill and the campfire ring is above or below it on the hill.

Large place

Large campground with four separate loops. The primitive sites are shaded and large. The RV spots are closer together. Some spots have beautiful views of the lake or forest. Golf carts are for rent at $45 a day which is fun. We never felt the need to leave the campground, however, if you forget something don’t rely on the camp store to have it. You’ll need to drive 10-15 to a nearby store.

Bath houses were cleaned very often! We had no issues with the trash as mentioned in an earlier post.

Loud neighbors

We tent camped here a few years ago and had the loudest neighbors. The brought a chainsaw to cut up wood, let their little kids roam wild and packed up around 6am. Our spot had no privacy either. We’ve tried to give this campground another chance but can never find spots that look decent.

Kid Friendly

My kids loved the water slide and Gaga pit! Sites are small but this seems to be the norm in this area. We spent about twice the amount we normally do for the site but it did include a full hookup and a stream running behind it. Overall it was a little pricey but had great features. Would have given this a 4.5 if that was an option. Our site had some garbage and the fire pit wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. Staff was readily available and friendly!

A little run down

If I could give this 3.5 stars that would be more appropriate. Some camps sites were nice and spacious others had no privacy. Most of the campground is shaded though. Some staff were good others just okay. The ATV and ropes course on site were excellent! The free bike trails were hard to find. The “lake” was really more like a large pond. Lots of trails and spaces to explore but many of the amenities were run down. About 15 minutes to drive down to downtown Nashville.

Beautiful Lake

Plenty of good camping spots. Bathrooms were average. Huge lake if you want to do any water activities.

Our Favorite

Our favorite campsite for the outskirts of Cincinnati. Lots of great spots available! You can get to the lake in about a 15 minute drive.
