Named for Captain Duncan Graham, one of the first known settlers in the area, Grahams Island is located in North Dakota’s Devils Lake. Located approximately 100 miles west of Grand Forks, this is the state’s largest natural lake—yet its shoreline and surface area constantly change due to its being in a closed drainage basin. The island is accessible via a bridge from the north; the state park is located a couple miles from the bridge, on the southeast point of the island. The park provides a year-round recreation destination for every kind of outdoor enthusiast, but fishing and water play are the most popular. Many just come to Grahams Island to kick back and enjoy a taste of “Island Life.”
With more than 150 campsites available, Grahams Island has an option for every type of camper. Spacious pull-through sites provide partial and full hookups for RV and trailer campers, primitive sites offer wooded seclusion for tent campers, and numerous group sites can accommodate large parties. The park even offers a few partially-furnished cabins. Campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground features drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers, picnic shelters, playgrounds, dog park, and sports courts. Dogs are welcome, but must remain leashed unless in designated areas. Camping is available year-round, however some facilities may be closed during the winter season; sites are $17–$30/night; cabins $60/night; reservations accepted.
Large and fairly shallow, Devils Lake is a hotspot for fishing, including some of the state’s best ice fishing. The park hosts several regional and national fishing tournaments, but casting for walleye, perch, white bass, and northern pike is a year-round activity. Fishing services in the park include a bait shop, boat launch, marine gas pump, and fish cleaning station. Other lake activities include paddling, sailing or relaxing at the swim beach. During the summer season, 2 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails are available for exploring the islands local woods, and in winter, 3 miles of cross-country ski trails are groomed for winter swooshing.

Campground is actually located a few hundred yards away from location shown on the Dyrt site. It is located by the Cando golf course. Hookups as well as primitive. Bathrooms with running water and showers.
If you want a beautiful, relaxing, quiet stop then you'll love this place. It's full hookups with a picnic table, fire ring and trash can at each site. They have four rental RVs if needed. Horseshoes, volleyball, a free travel library with sitting room, firewood, lots of open space to play Frisbee with your pups. The town of Harvey isn't far and has everything you need. Definitely worth the stop!
Nice city park. Horseshoe pits, Duffers golf course. Level grassy area. Electric, flush toilet.
Open year round. Per Ranger Water is available year round on sites 1-6, but won’t show up on website. Sites by online reservation only. Arrived about 8pm. Maybe 6 other campers, mostly fishermen. Beautiful place, lovely campgrounds. Electric only at this time. Pit toilets. No water. All sites are spacious and level with gravel pad and grassy lawn. Lots of pull through sites. One night only for us. $42.00 4-27-24
Wish we had more time to stay! The resort was very accommodating and put us near a bathhouse even with a late notice reservation. Very nice bathhouses! Quiet and clean! Very beautiful place!
What a beautiful and spacious campground. Nice office/bait shop, and friendly people. We had a blast camping and fishing.
Lots of activity around the campground makes it fairly noisy.
I didn't stay but was exploring the area and tripped across this place. Adorable. I would have stayed but couldn't figure out how. It was Memorial Day weekend and they didn't seem open yet. I think they are set up for summer music festival sorts of weekends and I bet they do that well. Worth a visit back when they are open.
Huge. Lots of regular campers who stay the season but also spots for visiting. It is large, well maintained, lots of activities.
I stayed one night and explored the area and town. The campground is nice and well maintained. The town is cute
I didn't spend the night but stopped on my drive past. 3 little cabins which were reasonably priced, a handful of spots with hookups and a bathroom but no shower. Cute and would be a fine stop on a weekend trip through.
This is a nice State campground in the Devils Lake Area. It has wooded and semi private sites in the primitive tent area. One part of the camper trailer area can be fairly wide open. Great place to launch your boat, fish station to clean your catch and nice swim area and playground for the kids. Devils Lake area itself can be somewhat of a boring area unless you love fishing
Stayed one night, 10/15/22 on a road trip. Not as close to the 2 as I expected but it wasn’t a bad drive, even at dark. It was a 7$ fee to enter, and a separate online transaction for a campsite and they charged a processing fee. But seeing as many campsites are closed in October we were just happy to be there. Very large campsite. Driving around all the campsites had reserved tags hung on them, but online they were available and there were no people in any of the sites? We stayed in the Primitive camp, down to the water and off to the left. The camp was a little confusing to negotiate at night, but after a couple of missed roads we found a spot. Fire pit and picnic table. There seemed to be plenty of trees for wind protection and privacy. There was a fenced in DOG PARK, which was AWESOME! Lots of amenities for the in season camper, we still had access to the vault toilets, and water was available up by the camp store but we only knew that because we waited until the morning and asked the person running the camp store.
Howard campground has giant, shaded, very private spots. We could barely see our neighbors. Our site had pasture land behind all the trees, and the sunsets were amazing.
We loved the dog park and mowed trails. Most of the park was immaculate. From the mowing of the grass to the cleaning of the shower house.
Our only 2 gripes were that 1) there are no dumpsters in Howard campground. You have to drive/walk your trash out to the dump station. And 2) the deep toilets weren’t cleaned. Poop appeared on the floor the second day of our stay. That poop remained for the entire week. Toilet paper was replenished and trashes were dumped, but the poop remained.
Flat, grassy area right in town near railroad tracks and city park. Electrical hookups, shower, flush toilets...
We didn't stay because we wanted to get further down the road... Electric was available. Vault toilets. On the water. Small park-like. Maybe 4-5 sites...
We didn't stay because we wanted to get further down the road... Campground host. Dump station... Quite a few sites...
Michigan city park campground is a beautiful little park next to a golf course that’s well taken care of. Keith the caretaker of the park and Golf course keeps Everything in beautiful condition. Very friendly town. There is a donation box On one of the electrical hook up boxes. There is a bathroom At the clubhouse very close to the campground
We were there early in the season, but it was very quiet and well kept. We arrived late in the day and the directions were clear.
After November 1 no water at site.
Extremely friendly and helpful park employee check in. The park was pleasantly quiet and the bathroom was very clean!
We were originally going to spend two nights at Grahams, but we enjoyed the island vibe and decided to add two additional nights to our stay. The park was full, but managed to place us in a few different sites! We were totally fine with packing up the camper and moving around, it gave us more experience and reason to work on our communication and process. There was a large influx of fisherman and a large boat ramp. We wanted to swim, but stuck with walking in the water as the swim area was busy with the sun shine.
Awesome views, swimming beach, fishing, hot showers and dog park
Devils lake is a premier Walleye/Perch fishery and Woodland caters to fishermen. They have everything needed for a day on the water or ice.
Woodland gets lower marks for summer amenities not related to fishing or the lake. Ex no pool and we didn’t find a playground.
Food at the restaurant was very good.
The residents of Michigan are incredibly welcoming. The Duffers Golf Club next to campground is inexpensive, unique and even has clubs available for free use! The members were having a tournament and invited us to join them after our round for an amazing steak dinner and conversation. We just stopped on our way west and can’t say enough about the hospitality. The campground is clean, has 4 electric spots and was the busiest it has ever been with 9 campers, 2 tents, 2 camper vans, 4 motor homes or buses and our travel trailer. There is a fire pit, horseshoes and a playground around the corner. We will be back our next trip west on Hwy 2.
Beautiful campground with 4 30 amp electric hookups. Water available at the club house. Sites are grass mostly level. Free will donation. Did not see a dump station. Very well maintained.
We stated at Graham’s Island the first part of October. No crowds to speak of. Nice trails friendly staff. Would like to return with the paddle boards when the weather is nicer.
Site has been flooded for years due to lake level increase.
