I’ve used this site a few times, very friendly employees and a nice short walk to the beach. Golf cart rentals available and a restaurant.

The RV spaces were all full so we were put in overflow.  Overflow is great!  It was wide open; we were next to the stage, right next to the stage and could see the river and the restaurant.  The restaurant was closed but they had a wedding on Saturday, so there was lots of car traffic in the parking lot.  Not a problem.  Expected a cool day, but it was hot and there were sooo many people going to the kite festival. 

All good, inexpensive place to stay.  The restrooms/showers, women's, were clean but well worn.  Still this is camping, or glamping, right?

Pretty nice place to park the trailer and enjoy Kure Beach!

Great stay. Wife, Three Kids, and I really enjoyed it. Full hook ups. Bath house. MWR/famcamp store with everything you need. They do not allow wood burning fires, only propane campfires.

Great staff. Beach access across the street. Less than a mile from the Aquarium and fort fisher civil war museum. Great restaurants in Kure Beach also. Coming back.

Recommend parking at your site, then going to check in. Not much space to turn around at the office.

They also have boone dock and electric only spots.

Nice military campground with no frills. Large sites with concrete pads; very long and will accommodate long travel trailers or motor homes easily. Some sites have hookups on the “wrong” side so you pull in straight.

Important to note, this location is only open to military members and their family members. So if you qualify, it's a good location for beach activities. They have a rental facility for surfboards, umbrellas, kids toys, etc. Accommodations are clean and comfortable. Full kitchen in the 3 bedroom unit I visited. Large TV. Wifi is variable depending on which duplex you get.

We visited this area last summer, but didn't camp there. However we did spend a lot of time in area. This campground is directly across the street from the beach. The beach is beautiful and the landscaping has rock formations scattered through it. It's a somewhat remote feel to this area even though it's not far from Carolina Beach. There is also a aquarium, and museum down the road if you need a history or education fix. Down South of it is bald island a access to a ferry that will take you to Southport. Next time we come back to this area we will definitely camp here.

You need a DOD ID card to stay here. It is affordable if you qualify to stay. They will check and make you leave if you are not a card holder. It was a good location near the beach and on the cape fear. It was just a large open area where you can set up camp so unfortunately you don’t get the privacy that most want when camping. You can rent bikes and boats to use. Awesome aquarium down the street + cute little downtown area with food. Kids enjoyed it non the less but I prefer more secluded camping.

No shade in this campground, but the location is everything! Basically a manicured field with cement pads and hookup poles. Bathhouse is nice and tidy but can be a small hike dependent upon where your site is. Mine was furthest away so we just drove up due to feeling lazy. Beach is close by- short walk and across the street. Lots to see and do in the area within minutes. Ferry ride nearby. (This is not myrtle beach- it’s a typical small NC family type beach). Loved my stay here! Was my first time camping in our popup and it could not have been better. Even saw a deer across from the campground in a field! Note: After reading other reviews, there has to be two areas to camp owned by the military in this location because ours was as described above. (Hubby is retired military. )

Plentiful bathrooms and showers. Nice tent sites. Very close to the beach. Great view of the river. Has shop, rental center, and fishing pier within walking distance of the camping area. Also has a nice pool and rec center, as well as ongoing outdoor classes (kayaking, ghost turtle hunting, etc).

This campground is great if you just want close beach access. The bathrooms are not always working or clean. The cabins are cute. The RV sites do not have hook ups in the right places but they are fixing it. The tent sites are shaded. The entertainment is great but it’s invasive and loud if you don’t want to hear it you have no choice. If yo love live bands it’s a great time! Beautiful area, close to so many local attractions! Just don’t expect too much.
