Awesome campground!

Tight spot but by the creek. Site couldn’t get any better! Swimming, tubing, fishing available. Shaded and perfect for our pop up, but lots of larger rigs there as well.

Doesnt get better by the beach!

This place has all the amenities one could ask for in a beautiful setting by the beach. Lots of different campers, has a store, trails to walk or take your golf cart, steps away from the beach, clean bathhouses, and a pier ($5 a person) with another store that sells bait, novelties, etc. What else can one ask for unless you are looking for seclusion? Just go! Note: all of the Myrtle Beach attractions are a short 5-15 min drive away. And remember, no tents on the beach and dogs on the beach during limited hours only.

Across the street from the beach!

No shade in this campground, but the location is everything! Basically a manicured field with cement pads and hookup poles. Bathhouse is nice and tidy but can be a small hike dependent upon where your site is. Mine was furthest away so we just drove up due to feeling lazy. Beach is close by- short walk and across the street. Lots to see and do in the area within minutes. Ferry ride nearby. (This is not myrtle beach- it’s a typical small NC family type beach). Loved my stay here! Was my first time camping in our popup and it could not have been better. Even saw a deer across from the campground in a field! Note: After reading other reviews, there has to be two areas to camp owned by the military in this location because ours was as described above. (Hubby is retired military. )

Nice park with some nice hiking.

It’s a nice state park with two lakes and nice hiking past waterfalls. We had a spot for our popup behind the wash house which was very clean btw. Site was shaded with a firepit. Closest town for things you forget is about 30 min away. It rained all weekend but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. There were all kinds of campers here from tents - million dollar rigs. Roads into the camping area had some “s” type turns. From the website: Camping Information: The park provides a 69-site camping area, located near the park entrance, and a 25-site camping area, located near White Oaks picnic area. Each site has individual water and electrical hookups, and picnic table. Some sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Both campgrounds are convenient to restrooms with hot showers.

Nice, quiet campground

Enjoyed a weekend at this campground that had a pond for fishing, pool, rec area with pool table, arcade games, etc. Clean bathhouses. Shady camp spots. There seems to be some full time campers there but their sites are neat and clean, and they all seemed kind. Some roads may be a problem for larger rigs but we had no issues in our popup. It seemed the larger rigs were near the front of the campground where roads were fine. Note: this campground is within a mile of the NC Zoo. The VisitNC.com website touts you can hear elephants, lions, and monkeys from the NC zoo at this campground, but sadly this is not true and was the reason I chose to camp here. (Imagine waking up to these sounds!) Otherwise, we had a very relaxing weekend. Would return if in the area. Note: town is about 10 min away. There is a golden corral with an awesome breakfast buffet if you get lazy one morn and dont want to cook. Happy trails :)
