      Liberty Harbor RV Park

Functional with excellent access to the City

Very plain & functional, no frills but right on the harbor & on the very edge of Jersey City, close to a ferry & the train that takes u across to New York City. Shopping & restraunts are right next door. We brought scooters & had a great stay! Plus you can see the Statue of Liberty from there!

      New York City View

There is only a small place for tents. Mostly people go there with campers. Not your typical campground. Very easy to hop on transit to get to New York City. People were friendly.

      Relaxing-Good for your whole family!

Sears Bellows in New York is a lot of fun. It really does offer a lot of outdoor activities for you and your family. I have stayed at this campsite 1 time, and stayed 2 nights. This campground does offer tent sites as well as RV/trailer sites. When I went with my friends in college, we just stayed in the tent sites and really enjoyed it. The campground is very well kept and clean which I really liked. They do have quite a bit of garbage's to dump your trash in. One thing I really liked about this campground is that there was a river/pond close by (Bellows Pond). The first night I stayed here my friends and I rented some rowboats and went on the water. It was a lot of fun, and the price of the rowboat was pretty cheap. The next morning we got up and did some hiking. The trails were beautiful, and the flowers were in bloom. There were people who were also biking on these trails, which looked like so much fun! We also saw some people fishing in the pond- and it seemed like most people were catching. The people who stayed in the campsite next to us were cooking up some type of fish for their dinner that they caught that day. One thing to note is that there are not any electrical hook-ups, so if that is something you need you might now want to come stay here. I would love to come back here someday, but stay maybe a day or two longer to do more things- I would also bring my bike and fishing pole to do more outdoor activities. I would also advise to rent the rowboats because that was a lot of fun!

      Liberty Harbor RV Park

      Location, Location, location

This is all about location. The closest RV park to NYC. It's basically a parking lot with a dump station. Not much else. Pick one of the larger end row sites to get a little extra elbow room. If it's packed, your neighbor with be within inches of your rig. Pluses, minutes walk to the Statue of Liberty, liberty Science center. Two blocks away from NJ Path train into Manhattan or take the ferry to Wall Street!

      Location location location

Basicly a parking lot, but the location can't be beat. 2 ferries that run to Manhattan. Path train is a 12 minute walk away that will take you yyo manhatten. Jersey city has a lot of restaurants and bars walking distance. Wonderful state park, liberty park, a bike ride ride away. Our experience was very good.

They also have a clean laundry room on site.

      Liberty Harbor RV Park

      Close to NYC!

This RV park is literally just a parking lot and quite expensive for what it is.

The location is great, but the surrounding streets may be hard to maneuver with an RV if you’re a newbie. You can see the Statue of Liberty from the park, and there were several cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

If you’re looking for actual amenities, this probably isn’t the park for you. But if you just need a base camp for doing tourist activities in NYC then this place will do.

There is 24 hour security which is nice as well. We felt safe while we were there, but it was also fairly empty too.

      Liberty Harbor RV Park

      Glorified Parking Lot

So... the “campground” is nothing special. Literally a parking lot with water & electric hookups. Larger rigs will barely have a yard. And don’t bet on a private picnic table. On a slow checkout day, you might get lucky enough to not wait in line for the dump station.

We’ve paid much less for “more”... the $120 price per night was ridiculous. But being that they have no competitors in the area (and they know it), RVers wanting a quick escape to see NYC can get it here. The ONLY thing we really liked about it was it’s convenient location to the city with easy access to the ferry boats.

The area itself was under a ton of construction when we drove in, which meant for difficult to navigate roads and we barely squeezed by larger trucks who were also in the roadways. But we did manage to walk our way to the marina restaurant “Surf City”, which was a unique and fun spot for end of day dinner & drinks.

We would only consider staying here again during the “off-season” months when the campground isn’t busy. The woman who checked us in was very pleasant and helpful when helping us figure out how to get around without driving.

      Liberty Harbor RV Park

      Worth it

This is a pricey park, but options are limited. As in almost non existent. This is a prime location for visiting the city or heading down the shore. The light rail is a block away, and the path train is about 8.

Staff is average, as this is not meant to be high end. They are nice but a bit rough. We had some issues with our converter and they wanted to extort a 20% commission to allow our repair man in. A bit of logical conversation put that idea to sleep. Sites kind of level and very close. Power and water, and convenient dump station if staying and needing to dump. The bath house was above average and heated. The laundry was helpful and was acceptable. Having a view of Lady Liberty out your window is priceless.

Getting in and out of the city is an adventure. Stay right off the highway to avoid the $30 tunnel toll. Follow RV life pro and not Waze.

    Guide to North Babylon

Sears Bellows County Park provides equestrian camping options near North Babylon, New York, with facilities designed for horse owners. The campground sits within Suffolk County's 3,500-acre pine barrens ecosystem, where sandy soil and pine-oak forests create ideal terrain for riding. Water is available at each site, though campers should note the absence of electrical hookups requires self-sufficiency for extended stays.

    What to do

Trail riding opportunities: The network of trails at Shinnecock East County Park offers varied terrain for equestrians. "The bay is peaceful" notes Anthony M., while the "ocean is beautiful" for those wanting to combine riding with water views.

Fishing excursions: Bellows Pond and surrounding waterways provide fishing spots accessible from horseback or on foot. At Shinnecock, campers report successful catches: "We catch stripe bass. The bay is peaceful and we go crabbing," according to Anthony M.

Family recreation: The playground facilities complement the equestrian focus. "The playground is really nice and big has a lot of slides," reports Gino D. about Sears Bellows, making it suitable for families with both riders and non-riders.

    What campers like

Natural setting: The wooded environment creates a peaceful atmosphere away from urban noise. A camper at Sears Bellows County Park describes it as a "beatiful well kept & maintained campground with spacious sites, a lake with kayaking access, and trails for bike riding and hiking."

Water access: Multiple water features enhance the camping experience. Vivian T. notes that Sears Bellows is "so peaceful and great biking and hiking," with the nearby pond providing cooling opportunities for horses during summer months.

Privacy between sites: The layout offers sufficient space between camping areas. Lexis N. describes Sears Bellows as "perfect for a peaceful and quiet weekend/week stay," with sites separated enough to accommodate horses without crowding other campers.

    What you should know

Hookup limitations: While water is available, power options are restricted. As Vivian T. simply states about Liberty Harbor RV Park, "the only down fall no electricity," which applies to many equestrian-friendly sites in the region.

Reservation requirements: Advance booking is essential, particularly during peak seasons. Suffolk County parks operate on a reservation system with specific policies for equestrian campers.

Vehicle requirements: Some beach-adjacent areas require appropriate transportation. At Shinnecock East County Park, Lisa M. advises that "4x4 a must, air down a must" when accessing certain camping areas with horse trailers.

    Tips for camping with families

Multiactivity planning: Combine riding with other recreational options. Nadia V. recommends water activities at Sears Bellows: "The first night I stayed here my friends and I rented some rowboats and went on the water. It was a lot of fun, and the price of the rowboat was pretty cheap."

Wildlife observation opportunities: The diverse ecosystem supports bird and animal watching. Multiple trails allow for nature exploration beyond horseback riding.

Playground access: Dedicated play areas provide entertainment for younger family members. Gino D. notes that the playground at Liberty Harbor Marina and RV Park "is really nice and big has a lot of slides," offering recreation options when not riding.

    Tips from RVers

Generator policies: Check rules regarding power generation at equestrian sites. One camper notes that Sears Bellows "does not have an electric hook up but generators are allowed," which proves essential for longer stays with horses.

Site selection strategy: Consider proximity to water and facilities when choosing spots. Keith and Tia S. suggest to "pick one of the larger end row sites to get a little extra elbow room," which benefits those with horse trailers requiring additional space.

Dump station logistics: Plan waste management carefully for extended stays. While sanitary dump stations are available, their accessibility varies by location and may require scheduling around busy checkout times.
