Kyle Canyon Picnic Area is set in the beautiful Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, just 23 miles from Las Vegas. Visitors enjoy hiking, horseback riding and scenic driving in this forested desert oasis. Natural Features: The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area is a beautiful island in the desert, brimming with breathtaking scenery and diverse flora and fauna. The Bristlecone pine, the worlds oldest organism, and the rare Mount Charleston blue butterfly are both found within the Spring Mountains. More than 100 springs create the namesake for the mountain range, making it an ideal place to escape the heat of the city. The picnic area is set in an open forest of ponderosa pine, mountain mahogany and Gambel oak, which provides partial shade. Manzanita and wild roses dot the landscape. A seasonal stream and the highway parallels the area. Most sites have views of the surrounding towering canyon walls. Recreation: The 1.6-mile Fletcher Canyon Trail begins nearby. Facilities: This year-round picnic area contains several single and double sites, four of which are accessible. Sites are equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring and grill. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Nearby Attractions: More than 60 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails crisscross the area; two trails allow mountain biking. The Best Camping Near Mount Charleston, Nevada

No overnight camping permitted. Not very busy on weekdays. Near the main road (Kyle Canyon and Forest Road), so a good place to stop if you want to eat at one of the tables after a hike. Saw a decent amount of birds attracted by the food (not that we fed them). Used to be near the visitor's center but that has since been moved down the road.

Day use only

Not sure where those picture of a lake are from in the photos. Kyle canyon is a very busy area with day hikers. Kyle Canyon Picnic site is NOW an over night camp site area. There is a review before saying it isn’t, but they just change the area to camping. So, pack your gear and get up here. The area is nice, bathrooms are sink and flush toilets. Drinking water available for your desire. Some sites are on a slope making it a difficult to find a flat piece of dirt. Lots of trailheads. We did Harris trail, which is a leg smasher. Hold on to your lug nuts because you will get broke off climbing around that area. Good views and the elevation didn’t affect us that bad. Noisy traffic.. lots of motorcycles from the city driving the mountain roads. Bout definitely a place to escape the desert inferno.

Came here once a few months ago. Super busy on the weekends so we go during the week. Still have to get there early as sites are first come first serve. Day use and overnight use. 12$/ night. Not to bad. Semi level spots with fire rings and tables. Busy busy road but after a certain time it does quite down. Definitely going back.

All of mount Charleston Is so pretty once you get off the Main Street and get out and explore. 
All the camp grounds and picnic areas are well kept and maintained very well. Not to mention all the cool trails you find. 
It’s cold because of the cold weather we have been having so make sure you bundle up and prepare yourself well enough. This area is day use only as of right now. The rangers are not sure when it will
Be opened for the camping season but this is also a campground not just day use so make sure you check that it’s open for camping. It’s all first come first serve and it’s the cheapest place on the mountain when it is open for camping. The ranger said April or may they will open but not sure on a date yet. 12 during the week and 18 weekend prices. If you have a big spot I recommend the double spots, all spots are great for RVs no hook ups but they have tables, grills and fire rings. Super nice camp host bob who is there and super helpful. The mountain life 

Didn't camp here this week. Tried to avoid the holiday weekend campers. Usually pretty full on weekends but early in week is not to bad to find a spot. To get out of Vegas for a shory time, I split my time between this spot and Hilltop campground. This place is a lot more dense to block out some wind then Hilltop. Great facilities and camping is between $12-$36 a night. Higher rates for weekend. All sites are earshot from road, but after 6pm, gets pretty quiet.

Roomy site for my SUV with a rooftop tent. Great views of the nearby mountains. Clean and easy to get to. Great quick getaway from Las Vegas.
