Campground on beautiful lake with white sandy beaches
Lone Eagle Campground is a mostly full hookup campground on the north shore of Lake McConaughy, Nebraska’s largest reservoir, located at the edge of Nebraska’s Sandhills. The entire shoreline of the lake consists of fine white sand beaches and the water is clean and clear.
We camped here in our 39’ travel trailer in a back-in, full hook up site. The water spigot is equipped with a splitter and is shared by two spots. The water pressure was so low that our water pump came on constantly when we used the water, even though we did not have a neighbor hooked up to our spigot.
Our 50 Amp power was good and the sewer hookup was fine. We had a view of the lake but because of the water being low, it is about 1 or 2 city block distance to the water. There were many sticker burrs in the grassy areas.
The bathhouse was not very clean but it is used by many people just here for day use activities. The showers are pay, 2 tokens for $1.00 and each token lasts 2 minutes. We did not have to use the showers. There is a playground for the kids and a couple large recycle containers, one for plastic and one for cardboard. The trash dumpsters are near the bathhouse.
We had 1 to 2 bars AT&T and they advertise Wifi but you have to pay for it.
This lake is lovely and the campground would be best enjoyed if you have a boat or jet ski.
