Ultimate in 21st Century Family Camping

This is a highly developed state park boasting an aquatic center, indoor gardens, zip lines, horseback riding, cabins and even a hotel on site. Popular for family reunions due to the amount of space and accessibility. There is a wonderful lookout tower that allows people to take in views of the Platte River. Nestled between two major cities in Nebraska, you're never far away from anything you may want to do or see. RV and tent camping is obviously available with limited privacy. This is also a great event venue with multiple large buildings available for reservations. This is not the 'roughing it' kind of camping, but rather a fun experience for the whole family.

So much to do

There are so many activities from your typical hiking experience to spending the day at the water park to being able to take the family mini golfing.

Busy campground with kid-friendly activities

This campground is crowded with significant interstate noise. However there are many activities for kids including paddleboating, a wave pool, horse riding, ziplining, and playgrounds. Modern restrooms with showers and power are available.

Beautiful, peaceful, and tons to do

Wow, what a wonderful State Park. This park has so much to offer and is well kept and beautifully landscaped. Make sure to reserve you're spot well in advance because everyone loves this park. We enjoy the sites right by the water where the geese come up into our site. There is so much to do here at the park like guided horse rides, the pool, painting, zip-lining, Trails, fishing, and paddle boat rentals. They have an activity center, an arboretum, and a look out tower which is worth the climb. There are also playgrounds, and ball fields.

There are 2 different campgrounds with nice spacious pads mostly shaded. There are also many cabins of all sizes which we have also stayed in during Christmas time many times and were very pleased with. All cabins have everything you need. Just come and have fun.

There is also a beautiful Lodge with a restaurant and store which is a must see. All in All this park has something for Everyone and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Spacious, lots to do, and friendly service!

This campground was a one-night pit-stop for my friends and I on our way to Arizona, and it was perfect! It provided everything we needed, we loved our site, and the vastness of the campground itself was enough to make us excited to be there. Although we weren't staying for a very long time, it was great to see how family friendly the campground was and how many fun activities were offered. The staff was super friendly and we felt safe staying there. It was overall a great stay!

Activites Abound

If getting lost in nature isn’t enough to keep your group busy, this park offers many activites in addition to great hiking trails! trails overlook the river and train tracks with frequent trains passing for those interested in a moment of time warp. There is a craft shop where you can pain a figurine of just about anything. The lookout tower is a great place to brave your fear of heights. in the summer the pool is hours of fun and there’s ice skating in winter. in addition to cabins, there’s a main lodge with rooms. A great park for large groups, meetings, or retreats!

Good and bad

I picked this campground as a stopping point on the way to Yellowstone primarily for the pool for the kids. The pool is awesome. It was, however, expensive. $10 for adults (even as a non swimmer) and $8 for kids plus $3 to rent a tube for the wave pool. My only real complaint about the campground were the bathrooms. They were all shut down except for the bathhouse, which was a real pain. can hear the highway loud and clear. Right next door to the Air and Space museum.

Biggest, best state park in Eastern Nebraska

If you are looking for a place to stop for a night of for a few nights with family or traveling alone along I-80 don’t miss Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. There are challenging trails overlooking the Platte River and railroad line. Bring your camera. Visit the horseback riding area ($), water park ($), nature center, and newly added Zipline and treeline obstacle course ($$). There is a nice place to eat at the clubhouse. The staff are friendly and helpful. Cabins for rent can facilitate even large families or get togethers. Book cabins well in advance for holidays. Fishing and kayaking opportunities also exist. Visit the Marina for paddle boat rentals also. The only downside to this park is its proximity to I-80. You will hear interstate road noise at night but if you’ve camped right you will be too tired to care.

Has it all!

This place has it all....but books up months I’m advance and the crowds can get a bit annoying! Hiking trails, frisbee golf, horseback riding, driving range, fishing, tennis courts, river views, cabins!

Lots of things to do but...

This is a great state park and possibly the busiest since it’s between Omaha and Lincoln. Walking trails. Camping spots galore. Arts and crafts. Horse riding. Water park. Lodge. Viewing tower. And they just added a ropes course. cabins for rent as well.

The only minus besides it’s always busy is the road noise from Interstate 80.

Pretty small, but nice

We hiked here one morning and there weren't very defined trails, but the park is small enough where you wont get last. Nice views of the river. It was fun to wander around the trails for a few hours, but that's about all you can get out of it.

Great for kids!

I want to start by saying this isn't my type of campground normally. Mainly because I don't have kids. However my visit her was with my little niece for a weekend trip to the zoo and for that is was awesome! Campground was in good shape, and there was tons to do such as mini golf and a water park which were the biggest hits with the kids. It was pretty busy though because of that. Sorry no pics as I they all have my niece in them and don't feel comfortable posting those to SM. I highly recommend the campground tho if you have kids...or still like to play like a big kid!

More than a park!

We used to stop here as a midway point when driving to Colorado. We always stayed at the lodge for a night and had a pleasant time exploring the area. Be sure to check out Arbor Day farms and Lied Lodge in Nebraska city only a short drive away. Learn the history of Morton salt and Arbor day itself amazing grounds to wander great hands on stuff for the kids and organic food in the lodge all right from the arbor day farm property. Not to be missed. Happy Adventuring!

A Good Starter Campground for Kids

We live a short drive from Mahoney and have taken advantage of its convenient tent camping. Campgrounds are well kept. Sites are open and grassy and bathrooms are clean. Kids activities are endless with playgrounds, a water park, mini-golf, ponds, trails, horses, etc. One thing that stands out is the interactive Melodrama offered most evenings. Kids of all ages boo, cheer, and throw popcorn. Winter brings activities such low cost outdoor ice skating, a massive indoor playground, and a sledding hill. Cabins and a lodge are available.
