Stolen Items

Our tent was stolen while we were out and about. Upon speaking with the camp host she informed us that this happens often at this campground. Other people in town also informed us that they were not surprised about this. The campsite also wasn’t super clean. Probably 5/10 on the cleanly scale (bathrooms didn’t have soap, overflowing dumpsters, etc.). Campsite was pretty, but not worth having your stuff stolen over.

Back to camping

Amazing camp ground. Clean and secluded. No cell phone service, or internet. Just like it used to be. Camping!!! Planning the next trip already.

Out of control dust and Speeding

Wanted to take my new 26 ft rv into space 8 and it was 7 ft from the road dust and speeders. Did not fit well and could not light a fire because the fire pit was too close to the rv. We lasted 5 days and left very disappointed. Labor day had a Montana mob at the group site and was very out of control until 2 at night.Hungary Horse is a very beautiful but most people are just there to to see Glacier Park and leave. Old dusty camp sites from 1 to 8 and others not with any privacy. Primitive except for a toilet here and there. No refunds

Loved it! But not easy to get to

This campground is beautiful and very nice! Vault toilets were well maintained. Camp hosts are super nice! No showers and no store so plan ahead. Getting there is a bumpy drive. The road is gravel, very dry and dusty, and full of potholes. Not sure how easy it would be with a large trailer. Some sites have shared bear lockers so you only get half of a usual locker.

Curve Ball

Maybe it's that this campground by a non-busy road, or the gorgeous views of Hungry Horse Reservoir from perch sites sitting up on the side of a hill, or the good tree cover or unique layout.  So close to five stars - I'm just picky about having more space between sites and having sites not right next to the campground road.  Call me spoiled, though.  Can't go wrong here.

Emery Bay Campground - Montana State Park

July 9-13, 2019 Beautiful campground. The water is blue. Site 21 was a walk-up and there was no electric, water or a dump station. No internet or TV through antenna. Was able to find an area in the park where I could make a phone call and send text. Vault toilets were clean. Sr. lifetime pass rate $8 per night. 15 miles West Glacier National Park entrance. Dirt roads kept truck coated with dust.

Emory Bay is Beautiful

The campground is a little farther than I had hoped to be from the heart of Glacier NP, but Emory Bay is beautiful in its own right. If you’re there for an extended period of time and your main focus is to explore Glacier, it’d be ideal to camp inside the park. But if you want to spend a good portion of the trip outside of the park then this place is perfect. If I had a boat, I’d spend most of my time at Emory Bay.

Pretty Spot

Stayed in June 2018 with a travel trailer. We were near the boat ramp so was slightly busy during the day but all-in-all not too bad. It is a favorite spot with the teens for swimming. They were friendly, polite, and teenagers. It is also a very popular area for boating. My husband used the kayak in this large reservoir. Beauty view of the mountains. We stayed on site #4 which is an easy back-in site. Host was seen often.

Very comfortable.

5 mile off pavement, but close to town. On the reservoir, so good boating and swimming.

Great spot to get away with the basic necessities only

Emery Bay offers a great spot to explore both the mountains and waters of The Hungry Horse Reservoir. Not too far off the beaten path but far enough to get away. The campground offers basic necessities and always a kind host to help.

Awesome campground

This was a great campground. Campsites were nicely spread out. Running water in the summer season, and the cleanest nicest smelling outhouse I have every visited. Campground host was one of the nicest we have ever meet. Campground has plenty of open spots when every campground in Glacier NP was full. Only about a 20 minute drive to the park.

Tons of fun!

We showed up here after a long day of hiking and backpacking in Glacier hoping to find a campsite. Thankfully, the east side of Hungry Horse Reservoir fills up a little bit slower than the west due to the dirt roads that are required to get there. The campground itself is located on a hill with different rings of campsites as you go up the hill (the outer ring near the water gets a nice breeze). There is plenty of room for trailers and boats at this campground with double wide spots. Toilets, picnic tables, fire pits, trails to water, firewood, campground hosts, and water sources are all available here. This campground offers tons of opportunities for activities such as swimming, cliff jumping, boating, hiking, and some great night photography locations. Overall, this is a really fun place to stay.
