We spent two nights here. The campground itself is very pretty with lots of trees and grass and such but it’s right next to the freeway and to a train tracks so there was a lot of noise. We paid $34 a night for our site that had electric. This was for non-Montana resident. I would say about half the sites are only large enough to accommodate rigs bigger than 30 feet. There was a pit toilet and also another toilet with flushing toilets. Nice little nature trail of a mile along that goes around the park. Camp Manager was very nice.

The campground hosts accessed my RV and plugged my toilet 3 times with something filled with maggots and left lice on my furniture. I fought maggots crawling out of my toilet for over a week. I returned a few weeks later to try to stay again and the campground host pointed his ATV at my vehicle and I had to slam on my brakes. He said no check ins, before I had any chance to ask any questions.

It's an ok location, easy to get to off the highway. The pin on the Dyrt app is way wrong as of this review(I submitted a correction), follow the signs (or just turn the opposite direction) though and you'll be ok.

The train mentioned in another review is a pretty big deal breaker though honestly. The tracks are right next to the wall in spaces. And during my visit on a weekday it was about every 2 hours. I caught it in the video from site 20.

The camp host Ed is really chatty and super helpful, though I don't know if it's his job to have the pit toilets emptied.. they need it. Haha.

All in all, I don't think I'd stay here on purpose, but would not be overly mad if it was a "last resort" sort of deal.

Nature trail was fun and bathrooms were excellent. Very clean. Camp host was friendly as well. Power hook ups. Firewood vending machine!!!!!

…unless it's late & you’re desperate for a camp site. 

Plenty of available sites in October— other campers were mainly hunters (or fishers).  No camp host; ADA pit toilet only one open (comfort station closed); all water was winterized & no elec hook-up available.  (Fees sign— see photo-- left no indication that fees were seasonal; we were ready with our contribution but since nobody to collect, we didn’t leave it.)   24 sites (1 ADA) + 2 tipi sites, all nicely spaced & shrubbery for privacy; #1-12 by the river. 

The biggest deterrent to this CG is the many trains that came through during the night— 3-4/hr, all night— and they all blasted their whistles 3-4 times each!  I guess if you are immuned to that, this would be a great campsite.

Great little spot hidden in the mountains but be careful of the self guided tour we walked it and there were literal swarms of mosquitoes We ended up having to jog back and in that short time me my daughter had over 20 bites

A quick shout out to Jo, the campground hostess, for treating us so well! It was a great place to stay and she made us feel right at home.  We had been staying at different sites as we traveled to Montana from Iowa and this one was a favorite!. We will make it a point to stay there again when coming  out west.

I arrived a little early and my site was still occupied. The camphost suggested I go under the high way a few hundred yards away to Beavertail Hill Pond. Was a sweet little spot with lots of locals kayaking and fishing from the shore. There's a trail all the way around.

The campground itself is close to the Clark Fork River and there are several places to access it from the campground. The river was pretty swift in June. 

I paid $44 for an electric site. It had plenty of privacy and plenty of shade. There was a place to ride my bike and a sweet walking trail through the campground. Not a bad place to stop for a day/night.

We were a little nervous after reading the other reviews, but very pleasantly surprised. The sites are pretty spacious for the most part; some on the banks of the Clark Fork River. Very clean area and bathrooms. The park manager is super friendly and nice. The 1 mile Nature Trail around the area is really well maintained and beautiful. There are 2 Tipi sites you can rent as well. Yes, it's about a quarter mile from I 90, the highway noise is minimal in my opinion. $30 per night with electric only for out of state, $20 for Montanans or those with a non- resident pass. Looks like most sites have plenty of shade for the summer days. The Ghost Town of Garnet is close by, an excellent day trip. Be sure to stop in at Parkers in Drummond for an amazing real milkshake!!

My first time at this campground. Never saw the hosts and was unsure about how “first come, first served worked.” Needed quarters for the wood machine and it was out of order. There was no sign for the senior discount as at other state parks, only a “no refunds” sign. Smelly pit toilet and no light inside. I stayed during the week and it was not serviced(drained) during that time. Constant noise from highway traffic and trains. Won’t stay there again and doubt that I would recommend it to anyone.

lovely sites, staff very accommodating, nice amenities although no water/sewer hookups, but knew that going in. Sweet stream at rear of park, very scenic. Did a dusk walk hoping to see owls, but shut out. would go back again

Right off the I-90, this was a lovely camping ground with clean bathrooms and quiet campsites. Note that not all campsites allow for cars to pull in too close, some have logs on the border. We usually have a tent attached to our car but it was fine. Mosquitos came out at dusk but we’re gone by sundown. Really pretty stargazing on a clear night!

Enjoyed our stay over a weekend! Nice 1 mile hiking trail through the state park. Was able to watch a group of cow/calf elk on Beavertail Hill from our camping spot. A few miles up Rock Creek Rd is a Big Horn Sheep viewing area. Water available at the campground but no dump station, however just to the east is Bearmouth RV Park where you can dump for $15.

This is a great stop if you need a place to crash. The train and the highway are adjacent to the campground so the noise was an issue for us. There is also a shooting range nearby. Overall very clean and friendly.

This was a quick spot when traveling to Yellowstone. Easy to access from I-90. Not a huge place and no showers. But the bathrooms are clean, the campgrounds have space and you get to listen to the river. Unfortunately the fishing wasn’t superb based on the river run off for the season. But it wasn’t a bad spot when we were tired and ready to make dinner.

Loved it here - great feel, good neighbors, large sites and a fantastic river location.  The sites were right off the campground road... a Bjorn no-no... but I can imagine this being the go-to campground choice of a few in-the-know individuals.

Nice camp ground power have to reserve online $10 service charge for online reservations would be the only complaint

I came here in a Friday evening hoping to snag a campground, but it was full. The hosts approached me and were very kind and understanding and let me stay in the overflow - however, one night of camping for a non-Montana resident is $34!! The hosts again lowered it to $24 since I didn’t need any electric hookup. Normally I wouldn’t pay that much, but it was getting late and there weren’t many other options.

Beautiful place quiet only issue was the bugs

Stayed 4 nights Memorial Day weekend , camp ground was clean and well maintained, camp ground was full all weekend but very peaceful, we will be back soon.

My family and I loved this campground. We are tent campers. It was well-laid-out. We did a little exploring by the beaver pond and river. The staff was super friendly. It was great access - right off the interstate. Facilities were clean.

We stayed here 3 nights as part of a 9-night trip. We loved the site we were in (9). It was along the water and opened up to a grassy area and the river. The park is not far off of the interstate. While the traffic can be heard, it was not distracting. There is also a set of RR tracks that run along the freeway. There were 8-10 trains that went by daily.. honking at the RR crossing. The park is relatively small, but the sites all seemed large enough and well spaced. There were a few large RVs there. The camp hosts were super friendly. Flush toilets were clean. The overall condition of the campground is good.

this cute campground is close to the interstate and right next to beaver tail pond which is great for swimming and fishing. the campground has some cool teepees and is great for group sites. it is usually pretty busy in the summertime and fills with RVs, it’s mostly a car camping campground.

The tipis were a lot of fun to sleep in! The river trail was beautiful to walk.

Qsuite this time of year

We stayed at Beavertail Hill Campground about 30 minutes East of Missoula, Montana. It is a very pretty. The mountains surround the campground with a small river that runs next to the campground. I'm not much of a fisherman but it is very pretty. There are some short hiking trails around the campground. The campground was not full and was very quiet.

The campground is clean and the campsites have plenty of room. There are flush toilets and they are clean. I did not give this campground five stars because it lacks a shower house and feels more like a place to stay the night, it doesn't seem to have much to offer for longer stays.
