Great Rustic Camping

We just got back from our first family camping trip and we had a blast! The campground was a 5 minute walk to the beach from our loop (oak) and we had a trail to it right in the back of our campsite. The hemlock and orchid loops were packed but the sites were fairly private for the amount of people there. Those two loops have toilets and are closest to the beach which is why it was busier. We stayed in site 66 in the oak loop which was perfect for us. The sites were large and spread out with a bear pole, picnic table, and fire ring with a grate. The oak loop has two well-maintained pit toilets (like the violet loop), but they stink up the whole campground for about 20 minutes after they’re cleaned out every few days. Our campsite was also on the arrowhead trail which gave us easy access to Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness where we hiked for a few hours one day (trails were not too busy, more backpackers than hikers). Overall, we had a great experience and look forward to coming back later this summer.
