Fantastic state park campground.
This campground on Poverty Point Reservoir is a well-maintained, scenic spot. Everything was very clean and the camp hosts were incredibly nice. Inside the loops, the views are fairly confined due to the maintenance of the natural vegetation for black bear habitat. We didn’t see any, but it’s made abundantly clear that bears may be in the area. A small mound site (Marsden Mounds) is located in the park and a trail with interpretive path allows you to walk past (but thankfully not on) the mounds.
