NOLA
Nice level site with W&E hookups. 20 to 30 minute drive to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Very clean campground.
Nice level site with W&E hookups. 20 to 30 minute drive to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Very clean campground.
Nice campground. Close to a couple ferries to get across the Mississippi. A few campsites appear to be exempt from the 14 day stay as they are junkie and cluttered. Most site are water and electricity only. Dump station is set up with the sewer receptacle in the middle of the lane. Cellular signal is decent. Nice staff.
We really liked this state park. Super friendly staff, clean restrooms, clean and inexpensive laundry facilities, lots of space between sites. But bring your bug spray. We stayed when it was fairly damp outside and the mosquitoes were ferocious! We would definitely stay here again when in the area. It was quiet and a good place to stay to visit New Orleans.
really nice campground, showers, bathroom, mirrors, laundromats, garbage (&racoons), loud animals during the night, 20 minutes of drive to be in downtown new orleans
Green, quiet, access to nature. Nice nature trail. Birds.
Loved our site! It was huge! Nice walking trails and close enough to town that you could ride your bike. I did not like the laundry options. The machines were fine but resented that I had to sign up for an app and add my credit card info to that app for it to work. Had to add a minimum amount and now I can’t find another campground that uses that app so I’m kinda out of that money until I find another laundry facility that uses this app.
Great option for staying over near New Orleans. 20 minutes east of city. 50 campsites. 1-15 very spacious back sites closer together. I like 3 and 11. Clean bath house laundry kids splash park area. Nearest big stores about 15 minutes away so stock up beforehand. 20-28 dollars a site.
We stayed here for a week while visiting friends in Nola. It wasn’t a great location to the city as it was about 40 minutes away. It was a great price at about $20 a night and dispersed spots. Had a nice trail that we took the dogs on.
This family oriented campground was busy during the Easter weekend- pro analysis due to its proximity to New Orleans. The campsites can accommodate pretty much anything from tents to big rigs. Most sites are large with good spacing between sites, but not much privacy between sites. The campground, as we as the restroom/shower house, is well maintained. Electric & water hookups. Water actually tasted good. Heard sounds of ATVs riding in the distance. Very quiet at night.
Nice campground and good value for proximity to NOLA. 12 miles from Bywater/French qtr. park on Rampart and walk the 1/2 mile to the quarter. Buses are available but it seemed like it would take three buses to get anywhere. Spacious camp sites. Hook ups. Nice to see diversity of users at this campground compared to white folk of the north running from the cold (which I’m one of 😊). Friendly and helpful staff. Nature trail is worth a walk!
Staff is fantastic - friendly and so helpful. Facilities are clean and the campground is well taken care of. WiFi is available but useless speeds for anything at all, but cell service is fine, if you need connectivity during your stay. Sites are roomy and spaced nicely. Park gate closes between 9 and 10, so if you’re checking in late make sure you call the campground during their hours to get the gate code. There’s a railroad nearby, might disturb light sleepers. Really enjoyed it here though - just mentioning things above in case they’re deal breakers for anyone.
Nice small park, splash pad, walking trail. Staff is attentive.
Great campground. Clean bathrooms with private showers. Laundry available. Two good sized playgrounds for kids and a really huge splash pad.
Pool is no longer open. Closed permanently.
Some sites are more private than others
Quiet and 30 mins to New Orleans. Sites are roomy. Trail is long , can be wet if it rains so bring your waders.
I needed to stop and make a few repairs on my rig. I checked in at the gate without many questions. Was I a Vet? Yes. “That’s a discount and thank you for your service” the reply came. Are you over 62? Yes. That’s a discount. Just overwhelmed with the courtesy that was extended. Thank you beautiful lady at the gate.
I love how they have their sites arranged so it didn't feel like you were right on top of each other.
All the facilities were clean and the showers actually have hot and cold knobs and didn't shut off every 30 seconds (big plus on this trip)
I did have a Crawfish walk through the campsite.
This state park looks a little older but has good amenities. You can get sites with water and electric service. Dump site is available. The shower house and bathrooms has a small laundry, which is free, and there is wifi in the park, but usually almost to slow to use. Sites are nice and come in various sizes for your RV or tent. Some of the sites are low and can hold water. This park fills up quickly at Mardi Gras, so reserve early.
st bernard has many attraction, nice veiws, friendly people
Was a little skeptical about it due to not knowing if any rebuild was done after hurricane Katrina. Well it seems like hurricane Katrina never even came and it was an eventful and joyful experience.
Holy Goodness it is HOT in South Louisiana in May.
Campground and Site 9: nice and roomy sites with electric, water, grill, fire pit, picnic table and shade trees. There is 1 bath house and around 50 sites. The grounds are very clean and very well kept. Not crowded or too busy. There is a playground in the campsite between sites 10 and 11. At site 9, I could watch the kids play while I sat in the shade, watched them and relaxed. There is a 1-mile nature trail from campground to say use area. The bath house was clean and spacious and across from site 9. This campground is perfect for relaxing and taking it easy. The kids got bored pretty quick though. Would be better to visit in the fall and winter.
PARK: the park is small. There is a splash pad that was a huge hit for the little boys. This is the parks main attraction for the locals. Sunday's the locals get in free but it was not packed. There is very little shade in this area. You need to bring chairs and a canopy. There are (2) covered areas but is awkward to share the space with others. There are tons of picnic spots in the day use area and a huge pavilion. There was once a pool but it is closed now.
NEARBY: when here, you are very close to the Chalmette Battlefield National Park and Cemetery where the famous battle of New Orleans took place. This park offers great history lesson and period dressed reenactments. Best time to visit is in early January when they recreate the battle. (Check dates with the park)
JAMBALAYA: being from Louisiana at a nice lazy campground, we decided to cook a local favorite.
