Open terrain and vault toilets define the basics at Heller Creek Campground, a US Forest Service site set within St. Joe National Forest near Avery, Idaho. The campground runs seasonally from July through October. Facilities are minimal. Campers who value simplicity over amenities, and who are comfortable with limited infrastructure, will find this a functional base for exploring the surrounding national forest, with campgrounds around St. Joe National Forest offering additional options if more developed sites are needed. Nearby, Spruce Tree Campground sits roughly six miles to the west as another Forest Service alternative in the same corridor.
