The Best Camping Near Tybee Island, Georgia

We did a family trip to Tybee Island in March 2017, this was a really clean place. The tent sites are large and neat, the place will deliver ice and firewood to the camp sites when ordered. They have great laundry and clean showers. The beach is only a few blocks away (which was good for walking). We will definitely be going back soon. 

Nice campgrounds 

The campsite is very cluttered. Each site is right on top of the other. Does not feel private and way overpriced for primitive sites. Your scenery will consist of your neighbor. I give 2 stars because it is very close to beach and the receptionist was nice.

Not Impressed

This campground was on Tybee Island, which was a plus for us. We were really looking forward to camping close to the ocean, this is just half a mile from the ocean. The campground itself is mostly an RV campground. They did have a handful of tent sites, which is where we were. They had a pool that my kids really enjoyed after dark, it didn't close until 10 pm. They enjoyed the close proximity to the ocean during the day. We also enjoyed that we could bike anywhere on the island. My littlest two biked all over the campground. We met some of the friendliest people there as well. There was also a local seafood stand where we got fresh shrimp and other fish. It was well worth the venture out. We had a fire pit, picnic table and a grill. We would definitely go back.

Really Enjoyed our stay

Very clean and friendly to campers and tents. Easy access to beach via a short walk. Tent sites are level and easy set up. Full bath house with showers! Everything was clean and easy for our memeorial day weekend 2018. 

Updated campground

Great campground with lots of shady oaks draped in Spanish moss. Large pool and a nice laundry/shower area. Nearby companies will deliver street legal golf carts so you can wander around the shops and restaurants on the main drag or the beachfront. Reserve now for this Christmas/New Years eve. This place fills up fast. 6-9-2018

Tybee island

River's End- Camping right by Tybee lighthouse and beach. This place seems geared towards RVs and campers, but I go there for the tent camping. Tent sites weren't super clearly demarcated, just kind of a zone on one side of the grounds. There has always been plenty of room (I've mostly been there in the summer) and it's about a 2 minute walk to Tybee lighthouse and beach! I'm pretty sure I paid less to camp here than people pay for a day of parking at the lighthouse just down the road. :) The gorgeous Savannah River delta is on the northern side of the campground and looks tempting for a swim, but it turns out it's the 3rd most polluted river in the country- so maybe pass on the swim -_- Easy access to shops, gas station, bars if that's your scene.

We had a great time at this campground even though we went in July when it was so humid that I was soaked before even getting the toy hauler set up. The lots are a little tight so you may need to brush up on your parking skills. The pool area was great for families.

Great place to stay

Very welcoming friendly staff. The sites are not large but the atmosphere makes up for that. Love spending time here and the island.

Awesome Island Adventure

Trip taken June 2018. Still pregnant. So this park is cute and very convenient to the beach and the main stretch of Tybee. It is tucked away in a little neighborhood with a lot of rental homes. As far as I can remember, everyone was nice. I also liked that the showers were individual rooms with a toilet. So you could take care of all yo biz in peace. Complaints: very small lots, ours had a lot of sunshine for most of the day. If I was a bigger fan of Tybee Island in general I might come back but I’m more of a gulf girl. 

Good location and friendly folks

Tent sites were very clean. Restrooms and showers were well cared for.  Access to the beach and town was quick and easy.

Clean and Quiet

Went tent camping here. Area was clean and cared for. Bathrooms were single-person (private) with showers in each of them. All very clean. Tybee Island is peaceful and beautiful. 

Great Site, and Clean!

Planned a trip with friends to Tybee Island Georgia, just outside Savannah.  It rained the first couple of days we were there, but still were Able to get out and enjoy the sites sounds and food.  Although sites are close together, the park offers , RV sites with full hook up, cabins, pool, beach access and laundry facilities.  Golf cart approved for whole island. The RV park is close to everything!

  

Just follow the signs to the path that takes you right to the beach. Spend a day basking in the sun, then come back to your RV to settle in for the evening.  There are really good seafood restaurants nearby, an ice cream shop you could walk to  and a cool little diner on the far end of the island that serves marvelous breakfast.  Shopping at stores showcasing local crafters near by.

  

If it’s beach and sun you want, look no further.  Nice, helpful staff make your stay very pleasant.

When you must go to the beach!  Isn’t that always?

I am a tent camper, and they have separate tent camping sites. I enjoyed the amenities, especially the pool and the River Room, where I could enjoy AC and work on my computer until 10pm (I was here during the hot/humid season). Also close enough to the beach you can walk, or there is a pay parking lot.

So rivers end was amazing friendly staff helpful with things to do around town told my fiancé where to eat and feel like a local places to go see and things to do the camp site with electric and water was super clean and pretty the park was packed full of rv’s but was not noisey or loud we heard maybe one generator but it was off by 10 pm it has a beautiful new bathhouse being built and a standing bathhouse by the host house all clean and very good hot water I’ll say the only thing if I had to say a single downer about the site which is barely an issue was the tent sites with electric hookup are right near a back road so there is an occasional car driving by and if you don’t like staying in a packed campsite it may not be for you but to me packed means good quality 

Little packed but dang it was awesome 

This great little park is nestled into a residential area on Tybee Island. It has all the amenities of a big campground, pool , pavilion, laundry , cabins,full hookups and a cool little general store. Unfortunately for us it was rainy and 40° when we pulled in and it was off season on the island so there wasn't much open. I will be back during the IN season

Beautiful little RV Park

Mainly a RV  park, but about a dozen tent pads (fine gravel, well kept, no trash) in grassy lots with picnic table and fire pit. Family style bathroom/ showers.  Office with coffee, games, books.  Host on golf cart was helpful with last minute arrival and places to eat on island.   3 block walk to beach.  There was also a larger group camping area - saw a scout troop there - these  sites had water and power.

River's End - Well Kept KOA

We love this campground. Sites are close together but who cares when your there for the beach. Staff is wonderful and helpful. Grounds are clean and kept. 2 blocks from north beach. Downside is having to pay for parking passes. 

Can’t wait to visit again

Nice campground close to the beach. Ride our bikes over the entire island several times. Only complaint is our site was close to the road with quite a bit of traffic. We did have a good shade tree!!! The sites are very close together but we had some really nice “neighbors”. 

Close to the beach

Our campsite was in the middle of a lot of stage campground streets but it was perfect. Shaded by big trees. Great spot for watching all the kids ride around. Close to the pool and laundry. The campground was active but not loud. My only complaint is that the pool doesn’t open until 11 on weekdays. That means you can’t take one more dip before checking out. Boo. 

But you can walk to the beach. Walk to restaurants. Walk to the farmers market at the lighthouse every Monday afternoon (4-6). Pool. Laundry. Showers. Nice people. Overall a great spot!

Absolutely love this place!! EVERYTHING is amazing!!! Bathrooms and showers feel just like home! Super nice pool. Great facilities. Walking distance to beach. 

Best camp!

River’s End Campground is the perfect location for enjoying the North Beach area of Tybee Island. The campground is a“city” campground, but the location gives off a more relaxed beach/island vibe. All the employees were very friendly and helpful, especially the guys in golf carts, who escorted new arrivals and helped all around. The gentleman who escorted us to our site and helped back me in did an amazing job, knowing exactly where to get me situated. One of the best back-in assists I’ve ever had. 

The campground is not large, but has a variety of pull through, back-in, pull-in, full hookups, and tent sites available. Most of the sites appeared very level and were average in size. Yes, they are close together, but didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Many of the sites have some shade, except 142-145. Our site(43) was level, spacious, and perfectly located in the center of the campground. 

The swimming pool was a nice size and well maintained. The camp store had a nice variety of souvenirs, supplies, ice and water. 

The location of the campground is what makes it ideal. It’s a short walk/bike ride to two beach access points (North Beach by the lighthouse and River Beach). Nearby are several restaurants and coffee shops, without having lots of touristy stores/vibes around. That is more of the south part of the island. The overall relaxing feel and location of the campground makes it one of our top beach stays!

Relaxing Beach Getaway!

Nice little campground with great big beautiful trees. Walking distance to north beach which is super calm water. A nice bike ride to the other beaches. 
Facilities were modern and in nice shape. Pool looked to be in good shape.
Roads inside the campground were a little small and some of the corners a little tight.

On tybee island. 3 blocks from beach, lighthouse. 2 blocks from backorder beach. Well maintained. Some of the sites are tight. They choose your site based on your size camper. Large pool, laundry. Everything on Tybee is easy to get to either biking or walking. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

Location, location, location

Clean campground, nice shower houses and bonus their gifts hope has a camper part we needed that broke!!! Friendly staff welcomes you and leads you to your campsite. Very pet friendly ♡ will definitely come again!!

Amazing island getaway 

The campsite is very clean, and has really friendly employees. Why I gave it three stars: The spots are stacked on top of each other, and it’s all gravel. We had to walk pretty far to get to a grassy spot so my dog could pee. There’s a lot of construction going on around the park and people let their rigs run and it sounds like a semi truck rest area. I wouldn’t stay here again. I’ve never felt more sardined before. 

Tight squeeze 

We really enjoyed our stay at River’s End Campground. Staying in Tybee was pleasant. Being the off-season was helpful. My children and I loved playing and learning outside. We also loved riding our bikes around the island and to the beach. 

A staff member tipped us off to the Turtle Pond which was the most memoir experience! We were close to Tybee without feeling like we were in the thick of it. 

We would definitely stay there again in the off season like we did this November. 

Near but not too near

Excellent place to visit. Staff was great. Campground is super clean. Short walk to the savannah river beach. A little longer walk to the ocean beach. 20 min drive to historic Savannah. We have stayed here several times and can't wait to return. 

Rivers Edge Campground. 

Yes, the sites are close together. If you have that expectation and get past that your neighbor will be close, then it is a nice place. We spent most of our time riding bikes on the bike path and on the beach. We also visited Fort Pulaski and walked the trails over there. We spent the evenings at the campsite around the fire. The campground was full but people were respectful and everyone was quiet by lights out. 
Overall, we had a good time and I would stay here again. 


Sites close together but clean

Though the spots are pretty tightly packed together, the close proximity to the beach along with the nice private bathrooms made this a wonderful destination. Just a note for dog owners- DO NOT walk your dog on the beach. You think there's no one around and then the cops just pop out of the sand dunes and chase you down. $300 ticket. We probably won't return because police presence on the island is militant and ridiculous, but all in all the RV park was nice. 

No pups on the beach! 

To avoid the midwestern early April climate, we are returning to this area that we enjoyed 2 years ago. Today being 3/16/21, the only way we were able to book the 1st week of April was getting lucky from a cancellation. Yes, I agree the lots are not spacious and the whole facility is a bit tight; but we still love the folks there and surrounding area. Bummer about dogs on the beach, though we were ok walking to their little downtown.

Not pulling a car; one night we called for a taxi to dine out at a nice little place. At the time, all taxi fares were $5 (and a nice tip). 

Being the only one on the Island, it can be tough to book. But with the entire area (and Savanna), the great staff and well maintained grounds, I give it a 5\*

Back Again to River's End

As the realtors say: location location location. That is the selling ticket for this campground. I loved being so close to the beach and walked there at least once a day. Our weather was rainy and windy in mid March but it’s the ocean! We got lucky with a cancellation and switched plans on a whim to stay for a week and I would do it again in a minute. The campground itself is white rock, trees, and roads. Fine for hanging out with friends or family but really—it’s Tybee and the beach you are here for!!

We had a pull through site on Fort St and I loved that we could come and go without wending through the campground proper. 

Island time

Campground is awesome, well stocked little store,outside air pump, very clean bath houses, pool was super nice, beach access is a bike ride away, dog parks definitely need work. It was so so hot the whole week. Bike ride to some great restaurants, oh yea kayaking with alligators 😳

This is definitely a "city" campground. Spots are tight, you will be very close to your neighbors, but you'll have everything you need, including a fire ring and picnic table. Wi-Fi and cable were also on point. 


There is an on-site store which seemed well stocked. However, we tried to order firewood several nights and each night, they were out of firewood. 

Bugs are bad. Bring bug spray!

There are two dog parks beside the campground. One for small dogs and another for large dogs. They are nice to have but both could definitely use some work. Even though we have small dogs, we went to the big dog park because the small dog park was in really bad shape. 

Walking/biking distance to the beach. Also walkable to really great coffee shop called Tybean Art &amp; Coffee Bar. 

\*Warning: While Tybee Island, including the campground, is one of the most dog-friendly places I have ever been, you are not allowed to have dogs on the beaches on the island. This is so strange to me, but they are very serious about it. Don't do it.

Tight little city campground with amazing location

This is our favorite campground. Bring bikes and kayak- you won't be disappointed. We stayed here for 2 months and have been here before and this is one of our favorite places to come. The sites are gravel and level. Most sites are easy to get in and out of and not too close together. I have never felt cramped here. Each site comes with a fire pit and a picnic table. Location is great. Not right on the beach but a short walking distance.(NOTE: DO NOT WALK YOUR DOG ON THE BEACH- they do not give warnings and the fine is close to$300). North Beach is great- Great grill called North Beach Grill. Lots of history close by. Staff are amazing and so friendly. I would say the friendliest staff of all the parks I have ever been to. Lots of great restaurants. We camped at River's End Campground&amp; RV Park in a Motorhome.  I highly recommend North Beach Grille, Cockspur Grille, and Huck-A-Poo - all are walking and biking distance from the campground (Actually everything is biking distance from the campground).

A Favorite for Beach and Outdoors Lovers

Very clean and organized. Campsites are stacked on each other. Our neighbor’s fire ring was literally five feet from our RV. Thank goodness they didn’t have a fire while we were there. Lots of families with you f kids riding bikes and playing. Also lots of campers that were staying many days with stuff scattered all over their area. 

Clean, crowded and family friendly

My wife and I stayed for three nights in early May.  Tybee Island is near Savannah Ga and is the closest Atlantic side beach to Atlanta.  River's End is a short walk to North Beach and very well run.  We were guided to a shaded drive through spot near one other camper.

  

The surface was fine gravel.  Like most campgrounds near the beach the sites are relatively small.  We had no problem with our 22 foot trailer.  Experienced drivers of larger RV's will be OK.  The staff is helpful and friendly.

  

We visited the pool - advertised as the largest on Tybee Island but spent most of our time at the beach.  There are bike lanes around the island and kayaking is fun on the back river.

  

Savannah is about 30 minutes away on HWY 80.  There is much history and charm.  We visited Forsyth Park and the riverfront.

  

We would definitely stay again.

Well located and maintained - near beach

Good location and our 41 ft 5th wheel fir in their premier spot. The only issue is our spot was under a tree that must have been infested with small ants.  We were only there for one night so we dealt with it. The beach was beautiful. I plan to come back next year and not get a spot under a tree (hoping no bugs but did not check out other sites).  Pool was also nice and clean. Local kids are in school now so area was quiet.

Good location

We have stayed at this campground about 12 times now- you can walk or bike to the beach. The staff is super helpful and friendly.
Pool is great addition, bathrooms are always clean.

Location location location 

Wonderful campground, nicely landscaped.  Great after hour check-in.  (We checked in at 6:15AM 12hrs behind schedule) Sites are small but it is a campground at the beach on the east coast.  We are in a van.  Site 26 was very level and very shaded.  Our visit was during Christmas week, so sun lower in sky.  Restrooms are clean and individual-shower, sink, and toilet for each person. Shower water pressure and temperature were perfect. However, pressure did decrease during busy morning rush. WiFi was great for our needs, though we were not working and relatively close to office.  Staff VERY friendly and very helpful.  Fire wood and ice delivery to site.  Of note, trash truck pick up was Monday morning and was VERY loud but was at 9 am so not too bad.  excellent location. Uber to Savannah was $60 plus tip. Close to wonderful activities for all ages.

Lovely campground at the beach!

Tent camped here for a long weekend.  Staff was very nice. Bathrooms were very  clean. Close to beach.  Will stay again.

Nice friendly place

Camp ground was tight for some in our group but over all pretty good. Beautiful pool. Decent bath house. My sight was amazing #136 facing the woods but my neighbors behind me were right up under me! At least they were nice 😃

Excellent staff, clean grounds, great place. If you want relaxing it’s here, if you want to party there’s 4 miles of what’re pRty you want.

Everything anyone would need is here

Tybee island is just outside of Savanna Georgia. Beautiful southern charm. On site pool, general store, bike ride to the beach or around the whole island -very private.  Tour the light house and many other local activities. 
Campsite was soft white pebbles with beautiful historic trees.  No see ums were a bit aggravating - this could just have been the time of year. Most people had screened in sitting areas.  The bath houses were super clean and individual- nice size pool- great to relax in after a day at the beach. 
This was another great week of adventure for the books!!

Really like the easy access to quite area of the beach. Pool on site. Bathrooms cleaned daily. Good mixture of site options and several cabins. Friendly and helpful staff. 


Tybee visit

We stayed last yr and the kids still talk about going back. The pool is huge. The office/store has everything you could possibly need. We ended up getting 2 bags of fire wood and stuff to make smores bc the nice lady at the office forgot to call in for someone to take us to our sitem we only waited about 10 mins so we werent even upset but it was nice of her. Our site was nice and close to the office, pool, laundry, and bath house.

Nice campground on Tybee Island. Great location, clean facilities, good sized pool. Most spots are nicely shaded by beautiful live oaks and pines. Around 3/4 mile walk to beach.

My 1st time

Private rest rooms with shower, sink and toilet. Easy walk to two different beaches including North Beach Grill. Walk a little farther for shops and bars. You can drive Golf Carts around the island. Went for four days, stayed for six. Enjoy. 

Great Staff, Great Campground 

We were excited about our spacious site! Yes, you can see, hear, and visit with your neighbors but that’s part of camping right! Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. On our first night we asked for a suggestion regarding a pub where locals hung out so we could gather some island knowledge. We were referred to a place called Huc a Poos. ￼ We walked with our pup, and although it appeared busy, we did not let this deter us. Awesome beer and pizza and we gained a great deal of local knowledge regarding where to paddleboard. The island is small and you can walk or bike just about anywhere. There are not designated bike paths so be aware of dodging people walking, driving, golf carts, and jogging, ￼

Small Island Big Heart

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are private and very clean. We had a great time and will definitely be back! 

Tent Camping 

I will be staying here for 6 weeks over the Dec and Jan period. The spots are close but the facilities are great and the staff is very helpful. I've had a number of packages delivered and they always let you know moments after they get them.  The wireless is good but not great. Not solid enough for me to use for work but the Verizon service is excellent so that makes it doable. 

Great city campground 

Beautiful campground. Clean and well kept. Bathhouse is clean and nice. The only nit is that its tight spots are close together. From the add it looks close to the beach but it's not.

Campground staff were friendly and well organized. Sites had full service hookups. Sites were level. Bathroom and shower were very clean and spacious.  Close to downtown and walkable to beaches

Rivers End Campground

This Campground was great, lots of nice shower rooms, a snack room, fitness room, pool &amp; close to the Lighthouse &amp; beach! A few restaurants within bike or scooter distance. The campground is shaded by Live Oaks &amp; very neat &amp; well kept, we were very content!
