Amazing

The views were amazing and it was far enough removed from everything that only nature sounds are heard at night. The way to get to the WMA seems like you’re going through people’s back yards, but it’s the right way. Your navigation might stop randomly, but keep going and you’ll find plenty of pull offs to set up camp. I would recommend triple checking the temperatures because it is a bit high in elevation and can cause some pretty drastic fluctuations if you’re not ready. I would also recommend not going after it has rained or snowed, or if you do, leave your vehicle on the trail and unpack from there. I may or may not have gotten stuck and needed a hand to push my car out. Basically be prepared, because even though you might have a cell signal, you can wind up pretty far back in the woods. At this place.

Remote location

This camp ground is very remote, down a dirt road. No cell service and I only saw 2 other people. Half of the sites are on one side of the river and the other on the other half, to get to the other side you must drive through the river on the road that passes through it. When I went it was about 2-3 inches deep and moving quickly. I didn’t dare go to the other side, but there was a smaller, low riding car who made it over, if they make it back I don’t know. I tried to wait and see but they were still packing when I was ready to head out. The camp ground was beautiful with fire pits and some even had grills to use over the fire. The road to get in was a bit bumpy but I was in no hurry. It was $12 a night. Just fill out the ticket and add cash or check and drop it in the box. I didn’t see any park person to check to see if I paid, and I’m sure I could have not, but it was the right thing to do. It was a bit chilly last night and I’m almost out of water and gas so decided to move on, but I wouldn’t have minded staying more than one night. I’m sure there are many places I didn’t get a chance to explore. I would visit again, but would probably prefer company since it’s so remote down there. And signs suggest that bear activity is a problem, but I was fortunate enough not to experience that. There are bathrooms, no showers, and a water pump, but I’m not sure if it was drinkable or not.
