Stayed with a group at the pioneer site and it was absolutely ideal! It was tucked away down its own little gated road and had 4 open shelters and 1 cabin with electricity. There was also a pit toilet and shower (no hot water). Each shelter had bunks for 8 people, but we fit several hammocks or 1-2 tents in each shelter. The large fire pit and indoor wood burning stove made the site comfortable for our group of 14. The park itself has tons of hiking and gorgeous views. Clayton is only 20 minutes and has plenty of little stores and restaurants (definitely go into Wander North GA shop!). Can't say enough about this park and site.
