Totally Primitive River Camping

Located right next door to Hillsborough River State Park is a tiny primitive (tents only) campground that is on the river, closed during a heavy rainy season and has access road only open on weekends. Most of the time it is seldom occupied. There are just a few spots for tents, a bridge you could fish from, access to the river fun hiking trails along the river and inland that will take you over to the state park (which fills up fast). The access road is barely 2 lane and each side drops off into the swamp so drive carefully. Call first to make sure camp not full of boy scouts when you want to go - it is popular for these youths. Summertime wear bug repellent as yellow and black flies can be brutal. Take a camera on the trails as you never know what you might come across! If you do not like primitive surroundings this camp is not for you
