This is an amazing dispersed camping area.  It begins with a trailhead parking area but just past the trailhead you will begin to see the dispersed sites with the rock fire rings.  They are every where and the ground is well packed.  The road is rather bumpy and when it rains it will be a total mess.  Most of the time this has to be extremely busy.  We were lucky and came in during the week and there was almost no one.  It was also October and a little cool, snow in the mountain tops.  Go up as far up the mountain as you can.  The back drop of the mountains is spectacular.  It was even better since we had had a light snow.  Twin Lakes was also very beautiful in the valley.  Verizon service was great.
