Moose!
Loved this place! Scenery, hiking along a creek, and wildlife.
To get to this campground you need to actually drive through the Pleasant Valley campground.
Had a family of moose wander through the campground one evening! Big buck and female and a young moose.
Only downside is there is a road for off road vehicles at the end of the campground so you’ll have a lot of day use jeepers and ATVers going in and out. A lot of people driving through the campground to park at the trailhead for backcountry camping and day hiking as well.
There are pit toilets and dumpsters for garbage. No recycling. Picnic tables and fire pits and a bear box at each site which are mostly flat and graveled. Some sites have more privacy than others and some directly in the sun all day in the center part of the loop. This place is good for tents and RVs. This is a great place to go when almost all the other campgrounds in the area are closed. There's also some backcountry camping just beyond the campground but we didn't look into that, so check with the FS if you'd like more info.
It wasn’t too busy with campers when we were there but the weekend it was busy with the off road drivers.
We would definitely come here again! Great access to Rocky Mountain National Park! Weak/ spotty cell service, but booster gave the verizon phone 3 bars of LTE. No service with ATT or TMobile.
