Beautiful alongside creek
The sites are all designated and there is nothing for the first mile. Drive past Geneva campground and the sites are about 3/4 mile in. The road gets very bumpy so low clearance vehicles are not advised. Saw a Subaru Outback make it okay but nothing less than that. The sites are well spaced out. We arrived on a Wednesday lunchtime and it was busy. Most sites taken. Now that Guanella Pass does not allow dispersed camping, Kirby and Buno Gulch are very busy. Would not advise arriving late on Friday, you’ll most likely be out of luck.
There are a lot of great hiking trails in this area along Guanella Pass so you will not get bored. If you have horses, Buno Gulch is a better option.
We only saw tents in the area as the road may be tricky for rigs with its holes and bumps.
The creek is a great place for kids to splash and play. When you first pull off Guanella Pass there is a great place to stop by the creek. We did not see any fish in it.
We will return in the fall when hopefully it will be quiet.
