Windy Beauty
This is a very popular State Park Reservoir. In addition to a reservation you will also need a parking pass unless you hold an annual pass. This campsite has a fantastic view and if you have a boat, well then lucky you! If you don't own a boat you could check out the 11 Mile Marina. They have kayaks, canoes and pontoon boats for rent and the store has almost anything you might have forgot and more. No swimming is allowed at this campground.
We camped at Loop E and Rocky Ridge has tons of large boulders throughout the park. The children love to climb and play on these rocks (If you don't want children around then I do not recommend a campsite in the 100s with boulders on a weekend) and so do the gulls (they will wake you up in the morning) .
The campsite was nearly full which means the vault toilet was not as clean as I would have hoped and there was almost always a wait during the dinner to bedtime period to use it. There were other vaults nearby, but not ideal walking distance in the middle of the night. The rangers were pretty strict on the noise levels as soon as "after hours" hits as they patrolled the loop knocking on campers to turn the radios off....but also kudos to them for checking on campfires to prevent forest fires!
The beauty of the water at sunset and the family friendly car camping experience makes this campground enjoyable. Spinney State Park is also just down the road if you want another fishing location.
