Cottonwood Site is located on varied terrain near elevations offering diverse landscapes. Temperatures can range from lows in the 30s Fahrenheit during cooler months to highs in the 80s Fahrenheit in warmer seasons. Nearby attractions include the Flat Tops Wilderness Area and the White River National Forest, providing opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation.

Cottonwood Island is located on the Colorado River and has a boat ramp and picnic site. Construction to improve site includes new vault toilet and loop road for boat ramp will be completed June 2018.
