Beautiful first come first serve campground on Willow Creek Reservoir
One of the few campgrounds around this area that still has beautiful trees, and shady spots. Great fishing on Willow Creek Reservoir—Rainbows, Browns, and some salmon. Boats with motors are prohibited, so there are many canoes, kayaks, and other non motorized activities on the lake. Note: some other reviewers are getting this campground confused with other campgrounds on “lake Granby” and those campgrounds that are “without trees”. This campground is not on lake Granby. It is located about 4 miles away from Lake Granby and is on Willow Creek Reservoir. Lots of elk, mule deer, foxes, some bears, and many other species of wildlife. This campground was spared the bulk of the beetle kill that destroyed many of the area trees. It is gorgeous. There is no electricity, but there are restrooms and potable water. Very quiet campground on the Reservoir. First come/first serve. So no need to have reservations months in advance. They don’t take any! This is a hidden jewel that not everyone knows about. So often one can just pull up and find a spot.
