Never again!

I will never book to stay here or another Thousand Trails property again. You cannot choose your site or even move when the campground is completely empty. The gave me a terrible spot, which was small, covered in pine cones, on a slope and next to weirdos playing loud music and an aggressive pit bull. Checked out early and found a much more inviting place.

Beautiful, quiet spot

Great remote campground, very quiet and natural. Very steep and tight roads throughout campground, but gorgeous once you’re done navigating. Most sites are electric and water only.

Beautiful park

Site 414 Had No cell coverage for our Verizon phones. After a drive through the park we found Cell coverage only works in lower part of the park. Our Site was not level at all. We carry a lot of leveling blocks and are not even close to level still nose down with 4 2x8s and Jack at max extension. Side to side level took one board under left side. We Had to get more lumber in town to level travel the trailer from front to rear.

The campground Rules state no scooters yet we saw them all day long… Everyone must wear helmet on bikes ect yet no one does and no one is making sure people follow rules.

We had a Great breeze every evening starting around 4pm that lasted a couple hours.

The bathrooms and showers were clean. The pool looked really nice and was quite busy our entire stay.

The setting of this camp ground is beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again.

Rustic and dirt at 6000 -7000 FASL

Limited FHU sites one is extremely lucky to find one available. Honey wagon is $25.00 per dump. 50 year old buildings in need of repairs as well as the electric wires ( OLD aluminum) bathrooms are old and drain covers are loose ( hazardous situation if barefooted in shower) informed maintenance and for 2 months nothing was fixed. The reason it got 3 stars ⭐️ is its location being up in the mountains ⛰ in a state forest is a nice place to relax unwind and get away from the rat race. If your a member of thousand trails this is an affordable park ( free ). If your a retail customer it is a little pricey even tent 🏕 camping is $50 -$60 a night. Then again in 2021 what isn’t expensive?

Beautiful Idylwild

We tent camped 3 days 2 nights during Memorial weekend with 3 other families. We really enjoyed the drive up Idylwild, beautiful scenery. I think the sites are a bit too close to each other, I would prefer more space between sites. But it's a quiet campground, everyone goes to sleep early around 10pm. A downside during our visit, is the restroom/bathroom; the resort closed down couple restroom/bathroom for renovation, so we had. to walk far to shower/potty. Maybe they were short staffed, the restroom/bathroom were dirty, toilet flushing issue and trash bin overflow. Overall we had a good time, also be aware of coyotes they come out at night.

Worth the drive

Staying at site #421 which I think is the best one here because none parked to the immediate sides and has a big hill on the side for exercise and adds privacy. Some sites looked uneven but this one was surprisingly even. Bench and charcoal grill for each site. Seasonal market and such open may 1st. Only WiFi in certain sections of the park Some sites seen seemed like they will only fit a smaller size RV Laundry takes quarters. Change machine inside the lodge. $2 a load. Very peaceful and quiet. Bath and laundry rooms always clean. Comfy Lodge area with two rooms with couches, fire place, tv and games.

I recommend coming in and out from Anza passing by lake Hemet, if your towing towards your max capacity. Gradual straight climb through 75% of the way. Takes about 20-30minutes longer then the other ways but work the saving the strain on your truck and drive.

Fabulous!!

We took our RV here just for one night but we can't wait to go back.  RV sites, tent sites and cabins.  Has a resort feel with a cafe, clubhouse, horse back riding and more.  Facilities are clean and convenient.  Operators are there to assist and in touch via text if you need anything.

Mile High Adventure

When I first got to Idyllwild, a little heat wave was hanging around, but by the 2nd week, the weather was beautiful. They have plenty of spots for tents, RV’s, and cabins. Surrounded by spruce trees, pine trees, and scotch pines reminded me of being Back East. Plenty of rest room/showers, pool is open, and a little place to get coffee and eats. There’s a small gas station/mini mart 3 miles away, and the quaint little town of Idyllwild was 15 minutes away. They have a full grocery store, if you need anything like I did. And there’s all kinds of little shops to browse around, and maybe find a gift or souvenir to take home. Plenty of restaurants, too. I got a couple stickers, and postcards for my grandkids. I also stopped at the candy store for my chocolate fix. This place is also a hikers paradise. I have asthma, so nothing more strenuous for me then walking the dog in the altitude. By the beginning of the 2nd week I started getting used to it. And they have the biggest pine cones I’ve ever seen! It’s beautiful up here, and the cooler weather is nice after this summer. I’ll definitely drive the 7,000 feet up to come this way again.

Big, sprawling campground close to town

We stayed at the Idyllwild RV Resort over Labor Day weekend 2020 and we had a great time. The campground is big with lots of different spaces dedicated to cabins, RV's, tents etc so nothing feels too cramped or noisy. Plus, there are a lot of open spaces in the campground and some small trails with cool views and lots of amenities. The good news is even with it being an "RV Resort" our camping area still had lots of wooded area and it never felt too chaotic or crazy. We didn't get to take advantage of all of the amenities due to COVID, but it was nice to have the little market and cafe. It is also close to Idyllwild but far enough away from the town, unlike a lot of the other campgrounds we saw in the area which were really close to roads and lots of other people. Bathrooms were nice (although a little far away from some of the spots) and well-kept. The tent sites are fairly spacious - NO WOOD FIRES HERE - with room for our car and tent and their provided picnic table, although some of the sites are a bit close together. Overall, a good experience and a place we would definitely come back to.
