Nice campground, but some issues.

We camped for four nights, and in general, had a nice experience. However, a few things knocked a star off of our rating. The campsites are dirt and gravel, and it was very dry and dusty. Numerous dips and slopes made leveling difficult. Electric hookups and water spigots were at odd locations, and if you plan to use these, have long hoses/cables. Electric power was low - our microwave typically took 25-50% longer to heat, and water pressure was very low, so much that using kitchen faucet took a long time to fill items. There was ONE trash dump area, near the campground entrance; no trash cans/dumpsters anywhere else. The sewer dump was also there, and no provision was made to easily return to your campsite if you needed to dump mid-stay. You had to drive out of the campground and find a spot to turn around. On the other hand, personnel were friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated that. While not a campground - specific issue, the winding, narrow, bumpy roads were very uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing. We camped in a 30' class-C with a small toad.

Family Centric Campground

The campsites are fairly close together. Almost everyone has an RV. There’s a store with bathrooms and showers as well as a play area for kids. Pretty loud considering everyone’s close proximity to one another.

A bit crowded

It's a beautiful spot of Redwoods, but the sites are so closely packed that there are cars and RVs everywhere you look. It feels more like a small town than the wilderness. The nice thing is that it's very close to the bluff trails and the beach. Showers and electricity are nice, but next time we'll go somewhere more remote.

Amazing camping under the redwoods

We’ve been travel trailer camping twice to this campground and love it! Beautiful, large sites under the redwoods and along the Gualala River. The campground offers partial hook-ups with a dump service for a fee (dump station on site as well). There is a little camp store for basic camping / RV needs as well as bathrooms, showers, and laundry. The camp is great for RV and tent camping. We’ll definitely be returning many more times.

Great but noisy

Nice campsite situated amongst beautiful trees with a great kids play area. River was running low but was very pretty - fun for the kids to paddle in. Our site was spacious and pretty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the noise at night time. It could be our proximity to the play area but it was quite a noisy site.

A little Jurassic Park

This is a private park with caring dedicated staff. Most of their sites have water and 30 amp power and there are a few sites with full hook ups. The park has a great vibe with many family sites, a cool little general store as well as public showers and restrooms. Even with all of the amenities, there are many sites which make you feel secluded in the redwoods.

Gualala is wonderful

This place cost more than most but all campsites have water and electric. There is a small store on site, games for the kids, flush toilets and showers. Around 30 sites overlook the river and it is a wonderful walk to the ocean. The campsites were spacious and very clean.

Gorgeous Campground

Its a huge campground with lots of people, but it doesn't feel like it! Each campsite is lg and many are very private. I stayed in a river view site. Theres a camp store, nice clean showers, and flush toilets. Kids absolutely love it. People are riding bikes everywhere, but again it doesnt feel overly crowded. There's a volley ball area, ping pong tables and lots of great trails to venture out on. Its about 1 mile from the town of Gualala, and theres coastal access to a ton of beaches just a short drive away. I went on a weekday and it was full so advance reservations are a must.

Amazing spot

Loved this campground. Showers and laundry not available due to COVID but this place was worth it. A bit pricey but they maintain the park really well. $75-$85 means usually you can find a spot here.

Hidden gem

This regional park campground ensures less competition for a site than state parks and is well worth it. Surrounded by thick redwoods, trails run off every campsite. Close proximity to neighboring sites, but numbers are so limited right now due to covid there were only two other parties staying here the night we stopped. Spacious coin operated showers, dark restrooms with flushing toilets, the highlight for us was definitely the sense of being submerged in nature while really only a short shoot off the main road. Curious raccoons come close at night and there are some very cool tent sites to walk out to.

Magical Campground within the Redwoods

Around 100 plus sites here. We stayed here a few times over the summer because we liked it THAT much. Tucked back within the redwoods and only 1.5 miles from the ocean there’s plenty to do here. The restrooms and showers were closed due to COVID, understandably. The River was also the lowest it had been in a really long time apparently. However, each site is spacious. Some sites are harder to back into and there are only a few “pull thru” sites so make sure you call to reserve if you’re afraid of backing up! The staff is super friendly, and the owners take pride in their park. There is a cathedral tree and the loop in the campground is about a 1 mile. They also have a cute store with souvenirs. I recommend coming with a bike or a way to get into town if you are in a motor home because there’s some cute shops in town and it’s a difficult walk to the ocean because you have to go uphill and cross HWY 1. Beautiful redwood trees, it stays really cool 65 degrees so you might need a sweater but going out to the river and the ocean gets warmer. Some of my favorite sites to stay in are 212A, 212(if we had a smaller camper I totally would have stayed in these sites as they only fit around 22 ft trailers or 25 foot home. Site 16 is a nice river view site. The 60s and 70s would be quieter river view spots and 226 is a nice non river one that you can kind of pull thru. The river goes all the way down to the ocean and you can bring your own kayak or tubes as well! The river is great for kids it is not fast moving currents. Sites have water and electric and there is a dump station on the way out.

Clean, Artistic Energy in the Redwoods

My husband and I loved this Redwood forest campground in the town of Gualala. There’s so much to do near by and the general vibe of the campers there was mellow and artistic. Lots of artists were in town for the Art in The Redwoods Festival At Gualala Art Center.

Loved every moment of peace. Plenty of hikes from the grounds. Just a short hike to the river.
