Ehhh

Just like the previous reviews, there are A LOT of flys from nats, and wasps not to mention a bunch of spiders that'll go all over your tent. The weather was really bad during labor day weekend, which was really hot. Luckily, we weren't too far from the beach to cool down. The campsite itself was ok. It's a bit close to your neighbors but enough distance to have your own space. I would recommend campsite 7 if you don't want neighbors. Haha. We stayed at 3, 6, and 11. 11 was up a hill, I would not recommend it. The campground is too close to the main road. If you're a light sleeper, you can hear the cars drive by and not to mention the insects that'll keep you up late at night. They locked the bathrooms but there are porta potties and a community running facet surrounding the campgrounds. They do have benches and fire pits. The host does provide a bundle of wood if you forget to bring it. No hiking trails close by. Don't think I'll be coming back.

Quiet in off season

Went In January on a weekend and drove up and had our pick of any site. It was all Shaded and quiet. Not many people around. Nice big sites under trees. Plus it’s only around a 10 minute drive to come springs tavern and several hikes. It is located right off the side of the road but it never got loud because the rode is so empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Fremont Campground located in Santa Barbara?

Fremont Campground is located in Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County. The campground sits directly off a main road, making it easily accessible for vehicles. It's conveniently positioned about 10 minutes from Cold Springs Tavern and several hiking trails. The campground's location also provides relatively quick access to beaches in the Santa Barbara area, making it a good base for exploring both forest and coastal environments.

What are visitors saying about Fremont Campground in reviews?

Fremont Campground offers spacious, shaded sites under trees with generally quiet surroundings. During off-peak times like winter, the campground can be quite empty, allowing visitors to choose from many available sites. However, insects can be an issue, particularly flies, gnats, wasps, and spiders that may cover tents. Despite being located near a road, traffic noise isn't typically problematic. The campground's proximity to local attractions is a plus, with the Cold Springs Tavern and several hiking trails just a short 10-minute drive away. Summer weather can get very hot, but the beach is accessible nearby for cooling off.

Is there a trail map available for Fremont Campground?

Official trail maps for Fremont Campground and surrounding hiking areas can be obtained from the Los Padres National Forest visitor centers or ranger stations. For the most current and accurate information, contact the Los Padres National Forest office directly or visit their official website. You can also check with the campground host upon arrival, as they sometimes have basic maps available for campers. Digital maps may be available through the Forest Service website or official USFS apps.
