Crowley Lake Campground — Alabama Hills

Fishing and wildlife viewing draw campers to Crowley Lake Campground, where the water sits close enough to structure a full day around the shoreline. The campground sits on BLM land near Toms Place, with views across the lake toward the surrounding mountains. A short gravel access road gets you in without four-wheel drive. No pets are allowed.

Sites are spread out enough to give each one some breathing room, and reviewers note the campground stays quiet even in summer. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box. Verizon signal has been reported as strong. Stephan C. describes the setting as "quiet with nice views of the lake and mountains." One reviewer found plenty of open sites on a May weekday, suggesting crowds are manageable outside peak weekends.

Restrooms are vault toilets, and at least one reviewer flagged the absence of potable water on-site, so plan to bring your own. A self-pay kiosk sits about a third of a mile before the campground entrance. The $10 nightly fee is low even by BLM standards. No shade is noted at the sites, which matters for summer arrivals planning midday stays. For campers exploring campsites near Toms Place, this campground fits well into a broader Eastern Sierra itinerary. The nearby Lake Crowley BLM Campground is worth considering for those who want a slightly different setup in the same area.

Good base camp for exploring east side

The short gravel road to the campground is easily accessible via a 2WD vehicle. Overlooking Hwy 395, but quiet and with great views. Sites are fairly spread out. Pit toilets. No potable water. Each site has a table and fire pit, along with bear box. Plenty of open sites on a May weekday.
