Shasta National Forest manages this boat-in campground on the shores of Shasta Lake, making water access the defining logistical fact for anyone planning a stay. No road leads to the site. Paddlers and boaters who explore camping near Shasta National Forest will find this one among the more remote options on the lake. Nearby, Jones Valley Inlet Shoreline Campground provides a road-accessible alternative roughly 6 miles to the west.
Description
Arbuckle Flat is one of four boat-access only campgrounds on Shasta lake. Located far up the Pit Arm of the lake, this facility is very popular with those visitors who want to get away from the crowds. Whether or not the access is difficult varies depends on the current lake level. There are vault toilets and no piped water. This is a "pack it in, pack it out" facility.
