Wooly, Hollow State park is a great place for a family camping trip. They have 30 campsites with power, water, and sewer hookups. The park offers hiking, swimming and rentals paddle boats.

Outstanding small campground 

We have camped twice at Wooly Hollow and visited once as a day trip. We love Wooly Hollow. It is very clean and quiet. There is lots of shade and several sites on the water. Our favorite trip we stayed in site #1 that was a pull through site with a water view. There is also an artesian well just feet from site #1\. The sound of it is so relaxing. The water was a little muddy when we were here. There are paddle boats that you can rent and fishing boats, too. There is a large playground for the children (we don't have any of those). The trails are easy to walk and the nature is awesome here.

Great for first time campers!

Amazing weekend right outside of the Ozark National Forest. The lake was closed for Maintenance but the state park ranger had a weekend full of planned events from a box turtle demo to a sand castle competition. the best part was the guided hike with Master Naturalist group of AR. They put our daughter right up front and identified every plant and tree we passed as well as answered every question she had. As a homeschool family we are always looking for learning opportunities and we are thrilled we stumbled upon this campground. Bathhouses were clean, the snack bar was great, the camp spots were roomy. Highly reccomend. 

Family Fun

The best features of this State Park are: 1) it is close to Conway and an easy drive from Little Rock; 2) there is a separate loop for tent camping _and_ it's closer to the water than the hookups loop; and 3) it has a nice swim beach open in season. I believe the State Park puts on some interesting programs, too, so watch their calendar. The hiking loops around the lake and grounds are just fine but cannot offer the majestic scenery of some of the more mountainous regions of the state. If you camp in the RV loop you will likely meet some nice folks and enjoy nature among other RVers. The park is well taken care of, but again, it's not winning awards for the _most striking_ setting our state has to offer. Nonetheless, Woolly Hollow makes a good getaway for families that want to spend time outdoors, ride their bikes around or take a swim, look up at the stars, and not venture too far from home.

Friendly and accessible family campground

This was our second trip to Woolly Hollow. The first time was in April, and the trails and waterfalls were better maintained and more beautiful in April. We still enjoyed our trip though. They have great trails for hiking and mountain biking. There is a nice swimming area with a shop to order drinks/snacks. The park rangers and staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathroom facilities were clean. Although we stayed in the RV camp area, the tent camping area had some great sites, some right on the water.

The drive on the Back Country 2 lane road drive is off Route 65,,, get's your excitement up wondering what to expect... There are no city light's to spoil the night's Starlite Sky.. And all you hear at quiet time are Mother Nature's soothing Sound's... It has Paved Road's,,, Concrete Pad's,,, Full Hookup's and a Lake to Fish or Swim in... The RV Site's are individualized almost no duplicate's... You are not sitting on top of each other's site... You have your own space to spread out... In our opinion all RV Park's should be setup like "Wooly Hollow State Park" !!! And if you just want to have a Good Ol' Family Picnic there are plenty of picnic area's with table's,,, some are covered...

SUPER STATE Park,,, It has a New Club House

Nice large sites with centrally located clean bathhouse.
Nice swimming beach; good fishing for trolling motors only. 

Nice for families on weekend; retirees during the week  

We visit here often.  The park is close to home.   We camp, fish, hike, swim, canoe, and just hang out in the hammock.  The park is kept well maintained.   The rangers are awesome.  The hold fishing derby’s for the young kids.  The park fills up fast in the weekends and peak seasons.   No complaints ever.   The park has a nice new visitor center.

Close to home

We live close by and go usually once a week.  Camping and hiking in fall and spring.  Swimming, canoeing, fishing, or just hanging out in the summer.  Sites fill up fast. New visitor center is nice.  Park has a fishing tournament for the kids.

Small but awesome 

The tent site that we had was great. (Site 37) It was right by the water with tons of room and a nice, level ground. Some hammock trees were nearby as well.There was a shared water spigot near the site. 

You park in a small lot behind the tent sites and carry your things a short distance.  

The bathrooms were clean, but they were quite a distance from the tents. This was my one and only complaint about this SP. 

In the warmer months, starting in May, they rent out kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes. There is also a small concession stand you can order from. 

My husband caught one fish while we were there from our camp site. It’s very handy being that close to the water. 

There is a great hiking trail around the lake. About 3.5 miles if you combine the cabin trail with the Huckleberry trail. It was an enjoyable hike. There were people of all ages enjoying it. 

We would definitely camp in this spot again! 

Bring your kayak and enjoy

We were in site 11 and really enjoyed being able to fish (&amp; catch) and put in kayaks from our site. You can rent kayaks, canoes, or paddle boats. The lake is the perfect size for kids to learn to kayak! This was our first time here but we will definitely be back!

Great little park

Great spot nice trails. 

This park is pretty much spotless. I tent camped in the fall and loved it. All the tent sites have a gravel pad, picnic table and fire ring. Lots of trees to set up your hammock. They have a swim beach and small boat rentals in the summer. There’s a nice paved walking trail too. I highly recommend. 

Nice little park

There is trails to hike, paddle boats, canoes and a great swimming hole. Especially love the fact that they don't let dogs on the beach where they can poop all over the place where you sit and walk I was very grateful for that because I've seen it in other places and it's disgusting. It's a great campsite ,a playground for kids to play, a great snack bar , a visitor's area , showers, bathrooms everything that you would need. We had a wonderful time! The streams that run off from the mountains into the lake are lovely and peaceful. Park is not far from local hotel in area and great places to eat.

Great experience!

This park was nice, we had a nice secluded spot right by the lake. The swimming area was crazy busy the weekend we were there. The trail we went on was nice and the park interpreters were very informative! 

Summertime

Lake is nice. Didn’t catch many fish though. Swim area is very well kept. Adorable pedal boats. Tent camping sites are right at the entrance on the road. You have to park in the parking lot and carry all your stuff to the camp ground. Definitely don’t recommend using a tent site at all. The entire park is very well kept and very clean. Park staff were very nice and helpful. Mountain biking trail is in good condition. North loop was even good for my 8 year old while I did trail running. Cute little state park. 

Nice area but tent sites are not good

I enjoyed our recent stay at Woolly Hollow. The park stays booked full and you have to be fast to grab a spot, it’s THAT great! Everything was perfect for a well needed rest. There are lots of trails, bike paths, water activities and BEAUTIFUL scenery. Very photogenic. Arkansas State Parks are always enjoyable. Staff was excellent and friendly. You won’t be sorry you stayed!

Well Kept Secret

Out of the Arkansas State Parks that we have already visited, Woolly Hollow has been the best!!  It’s a very beautiful park!!  The sites are all asphalted and the bathhouse is located in the center of all of the sites so access is easy.  I wish we could have stayed longer but we are planning to go back once the water level of the lake gets up and can swim. 

Great weekend getaway !!

I tent camped at Site #3, right beside the lake. Put my hammock up and watched the sun set and the fireflies start dancing. A few ducks played on the edge of the water and walked on shore for a bit. There is a marked Artesian Spring right at the turn to this loop before Site #1.  

This park has so much going for it. It is clean, small, handicap accessible....great hiking with short and long options, a pour-off waterfall during the wet season when the lake is high, biking options. You can rent paddle boats and kayaks for the small but beautiful lake that is known for fishing. The visitor's center has nice restrooms, local author's books and art, and is well-stocked in emergency  supplies, treats, a water fountain, and friendly staff. I live close by and opt for this park when I need to get away from the hustle and bustle for a while. This park is small enough to avoid the typical state park crowds and still enjoy all the outdoor sights, sounds and activites you are looking for.

SITE #3 All the great outdoor opportunities, small enough to avoid crowds

Camped here in mid-December, 2025. This state park has Class D walk-in tent sites and Class AAA full hookup sites. Some sites are on the lake front. Although overkill for my Chevy Express campervan, I stayed at Site #26 - Class AAA site. Since I'm a senior citizen and an Arknsas resident, and since it was midweek, I received a 50% discount; otherwise, the campsite fee is $42. When I made the reservation online, I paid full price with a credit card, and received a credit on my credit card a few days later. Very clean site; large. Electric and water turned on during my stay. The paved site has a metal fire ring, grill, picnic table, and lantern poll. There was a tent pad behind the site - up the hill and in the trees. Almost no privacy between sites. The bathhouse is conveniently located across the campground road from my site. The bathhouse was very clean, heated and stocked. There were only a handful or so of other campers here during my stay; peaceful. Can hear some distant highway noise. Received sporadic AT&amp;T and T-Mobile data service. Starlink connectivity possible from this site. This a beautiful state park. Pretty lake and fantastic trail system. The day use area is very nice.
