The Best Camping Near Harrisburg, Arkansas

Really enjoy camping at lake Poinsett. The campground is mostly shady with water and electric at each site. There is no sewer hook up but a dump station is next to the visitor center. There is a nice clean bathhouse and outside the campground is an all season pavilion. In the pick nick are the children have a playground.  The lake itself has been drained to make repairs to the dam and fish habitat improvements

Great place to stay!

Oh yeah, it’s the lake. Apparently it was drained to repair the dam. Looks like and apocalyptic wasteland where the lake was. Walked out to the middle of it and some Perv was flying a drone over my head. Stayed at the tent campsite which was ok because no one else was there, but you can see the rv site and some dumb buildings and a big streetlight. With the amount of dogs barking it sounds like you are in a neighborhood. It was ok. I guess any state park is better than no state park.

Missing something...can’t quite put my finger on it

Very nice campground with 30something sites. Mostly 30 amp with a few 50 scattered about. Sites were not the fartherest apart, but each was very spacious. Large level gravel sites with water, but no sewer. Free, but spotty wifi throughout the campground. Shower house was new with 4 separate rooms. ATT &amp; Verizon cell was decent. Did not try OTA TV.

We wish we had more time here, despite a severe storm coming in the park is awesome.  The camp sites were the most well kept that i have ever seen. The bathrooms are the cleanest that we have experienced.  The ability to walk trails, play on the playground or run around an open field makes this a place for families.

Another great Arkansas State Park! The campground is small, but the sites are nice. Arkansas has some of the best bathhouses as well! There is a really nice playground and also a walking trail that you can access from the campground.  

The lake has finally been repaired and they have begun the refill process after is has been dry for several years. 

The town of Harrisburg is close by in case you need to make a store run or grab some food. There is a small store here at the park, but it was closed while we were here, so I’m not sure how much stuff they have to offer. 

Nice sites, quiet park 

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend. Every site was booked but not crowded. Had a wonderful time fishing and hiking the 1.3 mile trail. This was our first stay, but will return. No Cell service for ATT. There is WiFi at the bathhouse, but was very sketchy due to the busy weekend. No swimming at the park. It is not allowed. Fishing is catch and release only except for Catfish and Brim due to recently reopening the lake.

Tripped twice in 8 hours. 

Single lane campground road extremely tight. If campsites across from ours wasn’t empty, it would of been extremely difficult to get our 28ft backed-in 

Our reserved campsite#4 was occupied upon our arrival and campers tried to convince us to take another site that they were suppose to move to, but it was much smaller, so we declined 

Never saw any rangers patrolling campground

Small, Tight Campground

Beautiful place to camp. Everyone running the park was super nice and accommodating. The only drawback that I can think of was the mosquitos. Shower house/bathroom cleaned and well maintained.
