 Dam Site Park is located at Greers Ferry Dam at the foot of Round Mountain in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas. The environment provides the ideal location for family camping, fishing, boating and hiking.

 Greers Ferry Lake is an outdoor enthusiasts' dream, with boating, sailing, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving and fishing opportunities. Hikers enjoy the area's three National Nature Trails and one multi-purpose fitness trail.The William Carl Garner Visitor Center is just west of the dam, with exhibits, a children's touch table, and a replica of the world record 40 lb. 4 oz. brown trout caught in the Little Red River downstream of the center. 
## Natural Features

 A dense mix of red cedar, black gum, red oak, elm, pecan and sweet gum trees forest the area, providing shade in the summer months and beautiful fall colors during autumn. Wildlife is plentiful around Greers Ferry Lake. Visitors commonly see white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels and a wide variety of birds.

 With over 30,000 acres of water surface, the lake serves as a playground for all kinds of water sports. Eighteen parks around the shoreline provide modern campgrounds, boat ramps, swim areas and marinas. The William Carl Garner Visitor Center is just west of the dam, with exhibits, a children's touch table, and a replica of the world record 40 lb. 4 oz. brown trout caught in the Little Red River downstream of the center. The Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, in Heber Springs, located below the dam, offers free tours. Built in 1965, the hatchery produces about one million rainbow trout a year for restocking the Little Red and other Arkansas streams.

Highly recommend this park! The lake is Beautiful and you’re minutes away from The Little Red River. Very clean park, well kept and the amenities are excellent!

My favorite campground

Campsites were very nice but a little closely stacked. Very steep decline to the waters edge. No mosquitoes which is half a point itself. 

Nice place, not my cup of tea 

The lake is large enough to get out and enjoy on a busy weekend and not feel overcrowded. Boat ramps get a little busy on the day use side, but with 3-4 lanes it usually moves pretty quick.

  

You have a wide range of sites to choose from. The newer sites have more space around them, water at sites and most are decently level. Down side is that alot of them are near full sun. With young pines around them so not much shade.

  

The more shaded sites are closer to the water side of the park. Depending on the size of your camper and your confidence backing in, these sites could be worth your time. Make sure you check in on the length of your trailer and the site before you arrive if possible. Some sites call out they can hold your camper but may odd shaped sites that are not conducive to a large camper. (We have a 34' camper that would not fit in a 40' site).

  

Also not that in the more shaded sites you may not be able to use your awning as there are plenty of trees for shade, but very close to the site themselves.

  

All in all we enjoyed our stay. We did have to ask to move sites as the one we reserved would not fit out camper once we arrived. The attendant was more than accommodating and did everything he could to help us for our week stay. 

  

Local restaurants are close and worth the time if you do not feel like cooking. And trout fishing is just a mile or so down the road.

Greers Ferry Dam Site is one of several around the lake created by the Greers Ferry Dam which created the 40,000 acre lake.  The dam was dedicated by John F Kennedy one month prior to his death.

Be aware that many of the sites might be hard to back into or hard to level your rig.  The area is thickly wooded and that might make it difficult.  There are a lot of large moss covered rocks that help to set the scene for  wooded wonderland for tents and smaller rigs.  Check your site before parking this park like many of the Corp of Engineer parks are older and built with tent and small RV's in mind.  It is a beautiful site and in Arkansas you must try the fishing

Directions:  3 miles northeast of Heber Springs, AR by way of SR 25 Bypass.

I love the Heber Springs parks. Jfk park is my favorite,as you can tell its others too. They are all booked up. I've never stayed on dam site very much but its a very nice park.
