Montana Creek — East Yoder Road Dispersed (Alaska State Land)

Description

Montana Creek cuts through the Susitna Valley in Alaska's Mat-Su Borough, and the informal camping area below the East Yoder Road bridge sits directly on the creek's gravel bars — close enough to hear the water and watch salmon move through the shallows in summer. Multiple stone fire rings are scattered across both sides of the bridge's south approach, with enough spread that groups can find their own corner of the riverbank. The drop from the road to the camping area is steep and rutted, making high-clearance and ideally four-wheel drive a practical requirement; the spot is not suited to large rigs. The road is inaccessible in winter, and the site is best visited from late spring through early fall.
