Wonderful, Quiet Getaway

We’ve stayed here multiple times and hopefully will many more. This is a quiet campground with well spaced sites, many of which are either on the water (sites #1-8) or close to a small stream. There is no reception here…cell phones and aircards won’t work…so if you want to disconnect it’s an ideal place to do so. I have heard that snakes are in the area so even though I haven’t seen any myself, I am careful with my pup. Site #8 is my personal favorite, though I’ve also stayed in sites #18 and #20 and enjoy those, as well.

I see you, Fall 🔥🍁🏕

This is our second time here. It is becoming one of our favorite weekend places to slip away to. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Bathroom facilities are immaculate. We stayed on #17 again, it our favorite. 17 had a small path to the bathroom for short natural stroll.

Beautiful waterfront site

Our campsite was wonderful. When we started to kayak there was a ton of trash in the water but eventually the water started moving and cleared it out. Probably had something to do with the dam. We found what looked like it could have been a hiking trail but it was overgrown.

Peaceful and Pristine

We were blown away by how peaceful Burchfield was. Lot 17 felt like we were all alone. There was adequate place between us and the neighbors, a peaceful creek separating us. The bath house was super clean. The camp host were active and extremely friendly.

Peaceful Time Away

This campground has zero cell service, so if you can’t do without that read no further. We had a lovely stay here other than that. We enjoyed being waterfront at site #5, but there are 8 total lots on the water and then more sites that are in the wooded area. Lots 4, 5, and 6 seem to be the better ones and if your camping with friends or family 7 and 8 would be a great choice, since they are very close to each other at the end. This campground is pretty much equal distance between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. We enjoyed our stay. It’s a four star only because of cell service. My mom fell while we were there and my children couldn’t get in touch with us.🥲

Secluded

If you plan on having service - I don’t think any phone service is available there. Nice and secluded. It was the first park I’ve been to that the playgrounds are still closed and that was one of the main reasons we went. Very quiet. Sites 1-8 are right on river. Would be 5 stars except we really didn’t have much to do without play grounds with 4 kids so left a day early.

Beautiful but no privacy

Sites 2-8 are on the river.  We were in site 3 the last weekend of October.  The location was beautiful but there is no privacy.  The sites are small and very close together with no trees or brush separating them.  I'm glad we brought our little camper instead of a tent because there would have been no way to stake a tent at the majority of the water sites since they are concrete slaps and decking.   Additionally there are no indoor showers easily accessible from these sites.  The closest ones are at the beach and they are not climate controlled.  Not good for a chilly Fall weekend.  That being said, it was wonderful to be able to kayak directly from our site.  The camp and facilities were clean and the hosts could not have been nicer.  Full water and electrical hook ups but no sewer.  There is a dump station as you exit the park.  There is no cell service what so ever at the camp or on the road leading to it.

Waterfront sites

In all fairness we did not even check out the loop away from the water, but the ones on the water were very tight.  There were only 8 of them and we chose the last one, #8. # 7 was right on our bumper, so to speak. Their table, fire ring, were on the wrong side. Pads were concrete and moderately level. Site 1-6 were close together.

We had no ATT nor Verizon, but some OTA TV stations. The park wasn't bad, but coming in from the north the roads were terrible, small and a long ways. The shore line was pretty littered.  For a COE park, this was at the bottom of the scale for us.

Beautiful campground!

We have camped at this park several times. We have always enjoyed our stay. Most of the campsites are tucked away beneath a canopy of trees with nice shade. The bath houses are always clean, as well as the entire campground. It is great for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Words really can't describe!

This campground cannot be beat. It is absolutely gorgeous. Sites are kept immaculate. Even the shower house is beautifully built. Babbling brooks are everywhere! And nothing makes a campground more than the camp host themselves. Wonderful people. It is deep in the wilderness so do not expect Wi-Fi or cell signal. It's nearly an hour to town come well-stocked!
