So many good sites right on the water. Relaxed atmosphere. You could swim or kayak right off your site or go to the beach. Several trails. God sunsets if you were in the right site. Large Clem bathrooms that were cleaned frequently. Mold on the shower curtains and not enough trash cans.
We saw bears and reported them so they could try to scare them off with air horns. The showers had little pressure and terrible nozzles so the water pretty much just dropped down the side. Sites were nice and there was a swimming area.
No soap or showers in the bathrooms.
The campground was decent and the bathrooms were big and clean. Loved the big sinks for dishes. Bathrooms were clearly once men/women but had been made so anyone could use either one. The covered pavilion was used for large gatherings and yoga type classes both nights we were there.
Bathrooms are large and kept clean. Sites are nice. Place to swim, fish, kayak.
Lots of wildlife. Bathrooms at the campground weren’t kept very clean but the ones up at the shower were half way cleaned. If you get a edge site it may have a good view. Coin showers and laundry. Great hiking in the area.
No service or amenities. Trail map didn’t have distances.
The campsights were large as were the bathrooms which were cleaned all the time. They have many miles of trails plus a nice lake for kayaking.
Would have been nice to have water within walking distance of the campsite. Get sight 1 of Longleaf campground, otherwise it's a long way to drag your stuff unless you are set up for back packing. Hiking was decent but not spectacular. If you Kayak put in at South Cedar Creek and it will be worth it. Banister Bridge has too many downed trees to get around and not as nice of views.
I wish there were showers, but Smoky Mountain NP has so many good hiking trails and some of them start in this campground. Even the easy 1 mile Nature Trail was beautiful.
Clean but not very hospitable. They did let us switch campsites since ours was muddy, but they didn't call ahead of time and let us know they weren't letting people on the water which is the only activity they have available so there was nothing to do.
Hiking near the visitor center was good although we had trouble finding longer trails. We didn't book far enough in advance to do anything but the self guided cave tour. However the outlaw wild cave tour at nearby Jesse James stables was fantastic.
Our campsite was wonderful. When we started to kayak there was a ton of trash in the water but eventually the water started moving and cleared it out. Probably had something to do with the dam. We found what looked like it could have been a hiking trail but it was overgrown.
Facilities and campsites were nice. I was impressed with how well the campsites drained as we went during the rainy season. The trails were wet and the river a little too high to do much kayaking. It would have been nice if the hiking trails had more signs.
