Yellowstone National Park is the home of almost 3,500 square miles of nationally protected lands. From rushing waterfalls, roaring rivers, soaring peaks, and marvels of geology such as Old Faithful, the park has sights not even imagination even conjure. For this reason, hundreds of thousands visit every year. Plan ahead and experience once-in-a-lifetime camping in Wyoming in the process. 


Although abundant, camping in Wyoming is extremely sought after, especially near the park. Twelve campgrounds within Yellowstone National Park provide adventurers with plentiful options, but planning ahead is vital. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! A hidden gem tucked in the shadow of Mount Moran is Bearpaw Lake and is also relatively accessible from the same trail. Remember your bear spray and enjoy some genuine Wyoming camping!

We are the destination without the cost of a ticket for every ride you have while with us. 

We are located central to the Northern Black Hills at the top of Spearfish Canyon 10 minutes west of Lead Deadwood on Highway 85.  Wickiup has the monopoly on Spearfish Creek.  Long gone are the cabin camps that once provided memories for children to older folks never to be forgotten.  Warm summer days of tubing, fishing, panning for those gold flakes or just skipping rocks.

Auto-Inn Motel and RV Park

Looking for seclusion? Redbank Springs Campground is located off the beaten path and offers limited sites for those wanting to be surrounded by the sounds of nature. Situated west of Deerfield Lake along Road #294, this campground only has four sites. This lesser-known location is rustic and is tucked away in a beautiful spot in the Black Hills. Sites are available first-come, first serve.

NOTE: Redbank Springs Campground Opens Memorial Weekend 2023. Campers at this location are advised that garbage services are not available in 2023 and this campground will be open with limited services at this time as the forest is in the process of getting toilets decommissioned/replaced. Campers will need to follow pack it in and pack it out procedures. Forest officials ask that campers be respectful of the campground, surrounding area, and leave it in good condition for the next user(s). If conditions create unsafe or unsanitary situations, the campground will be closed. Forest Recreation Management (FRM) – campground concessionaire - is not providing any operational services to Redbank Springs Campground in 2023. Hell Canyon Ranger District will be serving as the point of contact for any operational needs, management actions, or concerns related to this campground. Reuter Campground, located on a hillside of Ponderosa pine and grassy understory, offering a peaceful setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation in northeastern Wyoming's Black Hills National Forest. The campground is named after Emil Reuter, a German immigrant who made his way into the canyon in 1893 and spent the rest of his life prospecting in the area. Recreation Black Hills National Forest offers a multitude of recreational opportunites throughout all seasons. Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, and riding off-highway vehicles are popular in summer and early autumn. Winter landscapes are ideal for snowshoeing, skiing and snowmobiling. From this campground, visitors can access the Sundance Trail System from Reuter Trailhead. The secluded trails of this system weave through a network of densely forested canyons and open ridges that form the Bearlodge Mountains. Some ridge tops look out to the Custer Expedition Route, Devils Tower, and the Twin Missouri Buttes. Elk, deer and turkey are some of the more common wildlife seen along the trail. Parts of the trail system have existed since the 1800s. As routes to reliable water and the only access to some parts of the Bearlodge Mountains, they played a key role in the rich mining history of the area. The trail system is maintained for hiking, horseback riding, bicycling and cross-country skiing. Motorized vehicle traffic is not allowed; however, some portions of trails follow existing Forest Service roads open for motorized use. Facilities Reuter Campground has standard sites able to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs. The campground is equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and drinking water. Electrical hook-ups are not available. Natural Features Stretching across northeastern Wyoming and western South Dakota, Black Hills National Forest encompasses nearly 1.25 million acres of rugged rock formations, canyons and gulches, open grassland parks, tumbling streams, deep blue lakes, and unique caves. Derived from the Lakota language, the words "Paha Sapa," meaning "hills that are black," honor the dark, pine-covered hills rising several thousand feet above the surrounding prairie. Bighorn sheep navigate mountainous terrain, while elk, deer and pronghorn gather in forests and prairies. Bald eagles, hawks, osprey, peregrine falcon, and hundreds of other bird species can be found in the forest, especially along streams, lakes and rivers. Mountain lions, although rarely seen, also call this area home. Nearby Attractions Warren Peak Lookout Tower, approximately 4 miles north of the campground on Forest Service Road 838, provides a panoramic view of the landscape extending into South Dakota and Wyoming. Devils Tower National Monument is also a great location to visit. Our campground is located at the East end of Custer SD. Our property features French creek which has a couple of wide pools. The rest of the creek is fairly narrow with slow-moving water. Lots of water fowl frequent the area as well as deer in the evening. Kids will have a great time exploring the lower acreage. We plan to add new features & amenities to the park every year. We love being near so many scenic spots in South Dakota. We are looking forward to hearing about your adventures during your stay.

We are a bit off the beaten path, but if you enjoy nature like we do, Camp Barlow is the perfect spot for you! The campground is nestled in a peaceful meadow draw surrounded by 75 acres of rolling hills and trees - all of which you are free to hike! We built our campsites to be spacious. Each site is fairly level and is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. We currently do not have hookups but we do offer water (shared) to use during your stay.



Our place requires quite a bit of work to keep everything running, but we love to share our little slice of bliss. We are usually around the place and willing to assist when needed, however we do take a hands-off approach running the campground to make it as relaxed as possible. On your arrival date, there is no need to check-in. Simply drive to your campsite and make yourself at home!
