Although abundant, camping in Wyoming is extremely sought after, especially near the park. Twelve campgrounds within Yellowstone National Park provide adventurers with plentiful options, but planning ahead is vital. The Canyon Campground allows easy access to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, a picture-perfect waterfall and river vista in the north-central region. Visit Artist’s Point and hike the 300 feet down to the lower falls to feel the rush of the Yellowstone River. 


For a more touristy experience, snag a site in the Madison Campground. Being one of the largest in the park and less than 20 miles from the famous geyser Old Faithful, this area is a go-to for first time visitors. Sitting at an elevation just below 7,000 feet, the crisp mountain air will refresh. This area gets a lot of traffic, so pack in your patience and remember that the parks are for everyone to enjoy. 


Camping in Wyoming also gives the chance to get off the grid. Grand Teton National Park is directly to the south of Yellowstone and allows for some easy-access backpacking. When done right, you can avoid the droves of humanity that flock to the Greater Yellowstone region. 


For an easy trek into the backcountry, get a scenic spot along Leigh Lake or String Lake. These camping sites are often booked months in advance, so get them quick! Aspen Forest is a secluded 1/2 acre campsite up Tollgate Canyon, just 20 minutes away from Park City. Features of the campsite include a 12X20 tent site, a hammock, charcoal and propane grilling station, a food prep area, a shaded picnic table, and a propane firepit area with Adirondack chairs. To ensure your comfort, hi-speed Wi-Fi, electricity and drinking water are also onsite.

The campsite shares a driveway with a small cabin, which makes the utilities in this remote mountain landscape possible. Please note that Cabin renters will not be present during your stay at the campsite, but owners and contractors may occasionally be at the cabin to perform cleaning and maintenance. Campers can expect privacy within the campsite area and will be notified of anyone else present on the property via the app.

FREE amenities! Your campsite rental includes the use of of hiking poles, outdoor games, mountain bikes and fishing gear. Explore the beautiful mountain roads, cast your line into nearby Bobcat Springs for some cozy pond fishing or pursue the majestic views with a hike on the nearby Rocky Point Reserve trail. At dawn and dusk, you can often catch a peek of some of the local deer, elk, moose or wild turkeys in the area.

For reasonable daily rates, you can also rent an ATV onsite and explore miles of unpaved roads. Do you enjoy getting out on the water? Explore Jordanelle, Rockport or Echo Reservoirs- each within short distances from Tollgate Canyon. A full sized raft, SUP and kayak with paddles and life jackets are also available for rent on a self-serve basis. We also have several roof and trunk mounted carrier systems so you can transport gear on your vehicle if you’re not already equipped. The campsite bathroom consists of a 5 gallon camp toilet (hand pump flush style) and hand-washing station in a separate, private tent on the perimeter of camp. Please be considerate of others and refrain from using the campsite property as a restroom. If you’d prefer a luxury indoor bathroom with a flushing toilet while you camp, access to the cabin may be available at reasonable rates. Simply contact us via the app before or during your visit for more details.

If you plan on cooking onsite with the grilling equipment provided and did not bring your own fuel, charcoal briquettes and propane tanks can also be purchased on site via QR code.

Monte Cristo Campground is located 30 miles east of Huntsville, Utah, at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Visitors enjoy exploring local trails and driving along scenic Highway 39 through wildflower-filled meadows and beautiful forests.

## Recreation

Monte Cristo is a beautiful high mountain area brimming with hiking, biking, horseback and off-road vehicle riding trail opportunities. The scenic drive along Highway 39 is popular with motorcyclists and road bicyclists.

## Facilities

The campground contains two group sites that can accommodate up to 100 people each. Sites are equipped with picnic and serving tables, grills, campfire circles and cement site pads. Several single-family sites are available as well. Flush and vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided. 

## Natural Features

A forest of shady aspen and spruce trees covers the area. Summer wildflowers are plentiful and autumn leaves put on a spectacular show. Sugar Pine Creek is nearby.

Ogden River Scenic Byway, this beautiful byway, beginning at the mouth of Ogden Canyon winds through 44 miles of Utah's most beautiful mountains and countryside. Rock walls and tree-covered mountain sides line the roadway that follows the Ogden River to Pineview Dam. Small islands dot the man-made reservoir and surrounding fields are either shades of green or snow-white. The magnificent Wasatch Mountain Range stretches heavenward and the mountains cradle the reservoir and small communities through which the byway passes in their gentle valleys.

East Fork Bear River Campground

## Overview

South Fork Campground is located on the banks of the South Fork Ogden River at an elevation of 5,200 feet, just 7 miles from Huntsville, Utah. Campers love the park for its great river access. Tubing and fishing are very popular activities.

Campers enjoy fishing and tubing on the South Fork. Several hiking and mountain biking trails begin in the area.

## Facilities

The campground contains several single and double-family sites with picnic tables, campfire rings, utility tables and cement site pads. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. 

## Natural Features

This scenic campground is situated among cottonwoods and willow. Moose and deer wander through the campground on occasion. The South Fork runs alongside the campground. 

## Nearby Attractions

Beautiful Ogden Valley has numerous boating, fishing, hiking, horseback and off-road vehicle riding and scenic driving opportunities. Pineview Reservoir is a short drive from the campground with boating, fishing and swimming.   
  
Causey Reservoir is close by, offering great canoeing and fishing, as well as hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.  
  
Highway 39 continues on to Monte Cristo Summit with sweeping mountain views. ATV and hiking trails are abundant in the area.
