A handful of highways cross the crest in parallel lines, all running from the evergreens of the west side to the wide open grasslands of the east. Camping in Washington is available along every route, like the state parks that dot I-90 and North Cascades National Park that hugs Highway 20. 


Take Highway 2 over Stevens Pass to find old-growth trees around each spot at Money Creek Campground, plus a view of a classic metal train trestle. Fill each day with hikes through the Cascade forest, perhaps on a stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail where it passes the Stevens Pass Mountain Resort ski area. Head east of Stevens Pass to verdant Lake Wenatchee State Park for wooded campsites near the shores of a placid mountain lake and a stable inside the park offering trail rides through the summer. Sometimes camping in Washington means getting off the beaten track to explore the quiet corners of the state. Take a forest road in Olympic National Park to find a green haven of mossy logs and curious chipmunks, or head north around Mount Baker, the Cascades’ northernmost volcano, for boat-in campsites around Baker Lake. In winter, the snowy expanse of Artist Point near Mount Baker' offers killer views of rugged glaciers for intrepid snow campers and backcountry skiers.


There are spectacular overnights to be had in the Pacific Northwest’s national and state parks, not to mention the remote U.S. Forest Service lands that blanket this corner of the country. Leave the noise and bustle of urban life behind, and settle into the peace and beauty of our off-grid ranch in Washington’s enchanting Kettle Range. Dark skies make for unparalleled stargazing!

Our Ranch is located 15 miles north of Republic, WA in Ferry County. Just a scenic 30-minute drive further north is the Canadian border crossing at Danville/Grand Forks, BC.

We love hosting campers! A Resource Book is available to borrow, offering ideas for local businesses and recreation. We are happy to help make your stay at our Ranch special!

On the day of your booking, we will reach out as to your ETA. We always greet and escort you to your site, so please arrive as close to Check-In time as possible. If you will be delayed, please be courteous of our time and let us know by calling our landline: 509-775-0204.

NOTE: It is 3 1/2 miles on a dirt county road to reach the Ranch; at various times of the year it is quite bumpy (and dusty)!

If you have questions about the campsites please let us know. If all sites are booked, contact us anyway- we may be able to create a spot just for you! We have room to grow but are doing it slowly.

Each campsite is very private, but the sounds of neighbors in the valley below do travel during the day. This is also a working Ranch so please be aware that there are sounds associated with our activities (although far above the campsites)- the livestock gets excited at feeding time; the dogs bark while doing their jobs, sometimes during the night; the rooster announces the break of dawn. However, none of that detracts too much from the soothing music of the forest!

- Take in the native flora and fauna on our self-guided "Woodland Walk".
- The Ranch is perfect for bird watching and stargazing!
- The Ranch borders State Land and is within 1 mile of the Colville National Forest which means endless miles of picturesque hiking and wildlife viewing! The Ferry County Rail Trail is a must-do.
- Swimming, fishing, boating, and water skiing are only 15 minutes away at Curlew Lake State Park and the Kettle River.
- One bundle of firewood, 15 gallons of potable water, and a compost toilet are included with your stay. BYOTP though!
- Ranch-grown eggs and organic produce for your meals are seasonally available for purchase.



WILDLIFE: There is a wide range of wildlife around the Ranch- snowshoe hare, grouse, turkey, bobcat, Canada lynx, coyote, cougar, wolf, and black bear. Please use common sense while camping! Always be aware of your surroundings. Keep garbage properly secured. - There are also ticks in the area!



Highland Glenn Ranch

Beautiful, spacious, and secluded campsites in a forested area. Close to ATV trails on state land with lots of areas to explore.



Brown Barrel

We have 21 pull thru sites which all are about 130' long. Each site has full hook-up (water, sewer, 20/30/50 AMP) included in our daily and weekly rate. All the sites have a clear view of the sky for satellites. We have great Wifi and cell phone service thru out the park. Our clubhouse has spacious bathrooms (free showers) and a common room with a Foosball table, vending machine, Ice, sitting area and an area information board. There is also a laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers along with a bill change machine. Our newest addition to the RV Park is a 26' Tipi with a log queen bed and a log full size futon which in all sleeps 4 adults comfortably. The Tipi has been decorated with handcrafted replicated artifacts from our local artist Budd. It's a one of a kind experience. Make your reservation today!



Gold Mountain RV Park

This cozy, partially screened guest hut is situated on 200 sweeping acres of pastureland and steep, rolling hillsides. Floor to ceiling windows on the east side allow for a gorgeous view of the mountains and the lovely night sky. Composting toilet and hot water shower with equally impressive views. Enjoy the view, hike, bike, horseback ride, relax by the creek, swim the Columbia or Kettle River and fish Elbow Lake. So much to do and all super close or actually on the property! Hut is 100% off grid.

Iron Mountain Ranch features the owner's hand built straw bale house which is run off solar power, a friendly herd of horses along with a few cats and three dogs. (look up the ranch social media accounts online for additional pictures).

Since this hut is built with partially screened walls and partial solid walls, you should consider the season when requesting a booking. I will accept bookings starting on May 1st but even in May the night time temps can be cold. Checking the local Northport, WA weather forecast can give you an idea of what weather we will be expecting. Please consider this luxurious tent camping as there is no heat source in the hut, no electricity or running water. Please bring lanterns, flashlights, headlamps etc. We provide a small charcoal grill but please bring your own charcoal. We also provide a two burner propane cook stove but please bring your own propane canisters.

The futon is a queen size and I can provide sheets and bedding but prefer you bring your own if possible as we have no laundry facilities on the property.

\*\*\*There is a very limited supply of potable water on the property so you are required to pack in your drinking and cooking water. Dish washing and shower water is provided.\*\*\*

In the early spring and late fall we cover the screened walls of the hut with clear window plastic so that the nights are not very cold inside the screen house. We provide a propane buddy heater that is safe for indoor use to help keep the space warm for you.

Utilize the unique composting toilet, our own design which became the first approved toilet of it's kind in the county. A hot water shower with equally impressive views is close to the straw house but still as private as you need it to be.

Horseback riding is available upon request and for an additional fee.



Iron Mountain Ranch Screen House

## Overview

Kettle River is a shady campground on the banks of the Kettle River. Most of the sites are on the shoreline and have beautiful views of the Kettle River and surrounding landscape. Kettle River does not have a boat launch but does have a courtesy dock. This campground is a great place for birding, with a variety of waterfowl and raptors seen in the area. Kettle River Campground is typically quiet and doesn’t often fill.

## Recreation

Kettle River Campground is popular with families to camp. They can easily access the Kettle River for shoreline fishing or birding. 

## Facilities

Kettle River Campground is a reservation only campground with 13 sites. There are picnic tables, fire pits, and water access located within the facility.

## Natural Features

Kettle River Campground provides ample shade with thick forests of ponderosa pine, and douglas fir trees. The lake area is abundant with wildlife, including moose, elk and deer. Quite a few bald eagles have been spotted around Kettle River, and dozens of species of fish inhabit the lake, such as walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon and sturgeon. Fishing for sturgeon is now allowed during a short season. Much of the water in the originates from glaciers and snow in the cold, high Canadian Rockies, though temperatures are pleasant to swim in during summer.

Kettle River Campground

## Overview

Kettle Falls Locust Grove Group Site is on the northern section of Lake Roosevelt and convenient to the town of Kettle Falls. The facility is 0.25 miles away from the main Kettle Falls Campground, which has a multi-lane boat launch. It is popular for groups of boaters, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts. The Kettle Falls area is rich in history of American Indians as well as the fur trade; campers can learn more at a park visitor center less than 10 miles away.   
  
Lake Roosevelt is a 130-mile lake on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. Named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it is part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area and managed by the National Park Service.

## Recreation

The boat launch is in the main campground adjacent to the group sites, making the lake very accessible for boaters and fishermen. There is a former swimming beach at the group area; however, swimming conditions are not ideal.

## Facilities

There are two group sites at this facility, which are only a short walk or drive away from the main campground. The group sites are reservable March through November. The campground is conveniently located near the town of Kettle Falls and within 10 minutes of grocery stores and other amenities. The visitor center is also in town.

## Natural Features

The actual waterfalls of Kettle Falls are dormant under 80 feet of water formed by the backwaters of Grand Coulee Dam. The two group sites are spacious and set within a grove of locust trees, hence the name. They are near the site of Old Kettle Falls and overlooking Lake Roosevelt. Much of the water originates from glaciers and snow in the cold, high Canadian Rockies, though temperatures warm up in summer. The lake area is abundant with wildlife, including moose, elk, deer and bald eagles. Dozens of species of fish inhabit the lake, such as walleye, bass, rainbow trout, salmon and sturgeon. Fishing for sturgeon is now allowed during a limited season.

North Lake Roosevelt Resort

## Overview

Marcus Island Campground is tucked into the trees on the lake shore. The campground is heavily shaded and, in the summer, has shoreline on three sides. The main access road is single lane and winding, but campers flock to this shaded area in summer. A boat launch with parking is available before reaching the campground.

## Recreation

The boat launch provides access to the lake when the water is high. Provides a nice shaded campground in a beautiful evergreen forest. Popular for campers, families and fisherman alike.

Reservation only campground with 25 sites. A small boat launch is available before you reach the campground when the water levels are high.
