Best Campgrounds near Port Townsend, WA
Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula gives campers many different camping options. Sequim Bay State Park Campground is only 13 miles from Port Townsend and also close to the town of Sequim. The sites at this campground have good shade and privacy, which works well for families with kids. About 14 miles from Port Townsend, Camano Island State Park Campground has some nice waterfront sites and trails you can hike on. Roads in the area can get rough, especially when it rains a lot, so it's smart to check the weather before you go. Most people camp here from late spring through summer when the weather is better for being outside. You can camp in winter too, but you'll need to be ready for cold and rain. Bring what you need with you since you won't find many supplies in Port Townsend or other nearby towns.
