Late fall almost empty campground

We spent 4 days in the sparsely-populated campground. Very quiet. Great for walking the dogs around Sand Lake and other park trails. Cool weather, vas expected. Clea restrooms, older showers with sulphurous hot water. Resident Sandhill crane family was an added bonus. It is our go-to local campground

Beautiful park

Very pretty park. Sites and facilities are well maintained.

Sites tend to slope towards Sand Lake so have leveling blocks if that's important to you.

Family friendly

The campground has a private lake that’s good for swimming and fishing. The sites are decently sized with most being easily gotten into with an RV. Plenty of hiking/biking trails easily accessed from the campground. Only 2 downsides to this campground are the showers (not very clean and very small), and it’s very busy.

Fun Lake, small trees

Sand Lake was our spot and the water was breath taking - it’s a small pond really, but great for kayaking. Crystal clear, clean water, a good public beach. Our site had “private” access and our boys just played in the water for three days.

Clean bathrooms and showers.

Trees and covered areas were skimpy - trees were still young.

The campground itself was a small loop; so not so much bike/scootering unless the kids like a big circle.

Great waypoint when camping across the UP

Vibe: Woodland getaway with no flash and really nice sites.

Cleanliness: Sites are above average. Vault toilets are…vault toilets.

Facilities: Nothing flashy. Wish there was a few additional water filling points and that the dumpsters were all located near the camp entrance/exit. But really nothing to complain about.

General spots: Large, very well treed, gravel, picnic table and fire ring.

Privacy: Can see neighbors through sites, but better privacy than most places.

Our site: 39. Could drive circles around inside it. Even has a tree in the middle of it with room to drive all the way around it(not with a trailer). Depending where you set up your rig, you may need an extra long extension cord.

Noise: Quiet. Occasionally hear wolves howling. Cell signal(Verizon): 1 bar. No internet loads. Text messages will send and receive. Sometimes immediately, sometimes hours later. Other: Wish we had a chance to explore the lakes. Sounds like the swimming and fishing is good. Saw several kids on bikes toting rods.

Local Trail With Beautiful Views

I highly enjoy this park year round. The trails are consistently well kept and easily marked to follow. I just visited yesterday and although there was ice, due to warmer conditions today the trails were a bit muddy. Overall pleasant hike. Highly recommend

Pretty lakes!

This place has some great water so bring a boat, board, or kayak. Very popular for fishing and paddling. The campground isn’t overly special but it’s in a great location. Bathrooms, picnic tables, fire pit, the standard accommodations.

Great park but not a great campground..

I love this park. We come here all the time for kayaking, hiking, biking and swimming. However, the campground is horribly set up. The entire thing is wide open and there is little to no space between sites. No trees either to break up space between neighbors.

A beautiful park!

Seven Lakes has a great hike that takes you all around the lake, as well as smaller loops. You can find challenging hikes or an easy path. The campsites are close ish together but the one we stayed in was set in the woods, so we really didn’t have a problem with it. Sunrise is stunning here. Do make sure you bring plenty of bug netting/spray/gear if you come in the summer, the bugs are brutal.

Fab beach

This is a fabulous campground! There are over 20 sites, about half of which are located lake side (not directly on the lake, but there are little paths that lead you there and you can somewhat see the water from these sites.) There is a boat launch on one end of campground and the amazing beach on the other. The water is clear and warm (perfect lake for swimming) and there is both sand and grassy areas on the fairly large beach. The beach also offers picnic tables and benches. The only negative aspect I can see about this campground is that the sites are right on top of each other, so if you have a loud group or a generator next to you, it is noisy. But most campgrounds have sites set real close together, so you will find this pretty much everywhere. Def camp here! About an hours drive from a Pictured Rocks National Park. There are no showers or running water. Camp hosts were very nice, helpful, & welcoming.
