Spacious !
Plenty of room between spots with space for my cat to come out of the camper and feel comfortable. Far enough away from the road makes it quiet. Plenty of dirt roads for us to ride our bikes.
Easy access and lots of space
Lots of room, easy to access with our 42’ fifth wheel. Close enough to 95 to be convenient but far enough away to have nice star viewing and no noise from the freeway.
Plomosa Road BLM
Here for the RTR and to go to the first day of the Big tent to look for a camp host job. I am camping with a bunch of YouTube Ladies who I just met here on the second day. We’ve had campfires and some good fellowship. ATT has been fairly decent….sometimes spotty but also I don’t use it for work or uploading and editing videos so there is that.

Free Range Boondocking
This is a fully Boondock situation, and my 4 stars reflects that category. This is one of 5 dispersed areas around Quartzsite for the "2 week stay" folks. This area, "Plomosa Road Dispersed BLM Camping", is about 5 miles north of downtown Quartzsite, and more important, far enough away from Interstate 10 to not be able to hear it. The other 4 areas will subject you to a lot of highway noise.
This area runs along either side of Plomosa Road for 7 miles and extends out from the road farther than you can get to in a vehicle. While there is some road traffic, it is mostly sparse and it all goes quiet by 7 to 8 pm. Coyotes were yipping up a storm the other night. There are mountains in almost every direction and the line of site extends out to 10s of miles.
There are no services. No water. Closest services are Quartzsite, 6.5 miles as the crow flies from my spot.
Dust - It will be dusty. You will also encounter a few folk on their 4-wheeler buggies that seem oblivious to the dust clouds they raise, and it just adds to the challenge. Most people moving vehicles down the dirt tracks do go very slow as to not kick up such a cloud.
There is a host on duty at the beginning of the road off of AZ-95. There other 2 weeks areas I was in didn't seem to have anyone monitoring.
As free range desert boondocking goes, this is the better of the 5 local areas. I also rank this area on it being desert, not mountains… I am sure that there are 4 star mountain areas that are much better than this area.

Easy access, and wide open
60’s-70’s during the day, high 30’s to 50 at night. Can be windy. A lot of campers, but there’s plenty of room. Zero amenities, and the desert is fragile, so you must be prepared to pack EVERYTHING out.
Free BLM Camping Polmosa Rd. Quartzsite AZ
I've camped in the Polmosa Rd. BLM area several times during the past three years. My first couple years I didn't venture far from the area with the camp host. This year I drove further east, about 5 miles, on Polmosa Rd. because my brother came from New York to camp with me and I wanted us to have a more isolated spot.
I spotted a dirt road to the right and took that. We followed it for a while basically running parallel to Polmosa Rd. then it went off to the right (south) and got a bit more rugged. We had to go through a pretty bad dip in the dirt road (through a wash) which bottomed out my brother's trailer which was much lower to the ground than mine. Shortly after we got past that the road got even wore so we pulled off into a flat area to set up camp there. It was nice.
We spent a few days the first week of January 2021 in that area. I found several nice agates while hiking there. When we were ready to leave we were concerned about my brother trying to get back through that wash so on my daily hikes I search for another way out and found it a mile or so further east from our camp. It would have better to come in that way.
I was trying to find the exact spot on Goggle map but couldn't. I like it enough to go back again so next year I'll get the coordinates and take more photos. One morning I was looking for rocks and turned over a big one to find a little lizard under it. He was hardly moving so I picked him up thinking he was injured or something. I carried him around with me for awhile. He was fine once he warmed up. It was really cold that night so I guess being cold blooded the little guy wasn't able to move until he warmed up.

Free & Just North of Quartzsite
Free dispersed camping, about 4 miles north of Quartzsite, with no services available, but lots of space and beautiful views of surrounding mountains. No trash service, but this area is very close to the Refuse Transfer Station off Hwy 95. Area is quiet with no major road noise.
Be sure to register with the Camp Host on duty near the entrance to the area.
Many RVers use solar panels for all or at least part of their power needs though, so generator use is minimal.
Sunrises and sunsets are endless and beautiful! Easy access back into town for food, gas, firewood, laundry, and just about everything a camper could need.
