Gorgeous Views

Out here there are gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, fabulous sunrise/sunset, and plenty of desert flora. Camping is free. There are no services here as this is BLM dry camping and there is a 14 day per 28 day limit. Nearby are plenty of services including water, propane, and food. No problems here in January.

Peaceful, just a few minutes from Quartzite

Great place to overnight. So open, so much space to camp. We chose a spot well away from Hwy 10 and it was perfect and peaceful. Simple drive on gravel, not challenging for most vehicles. We listened to the coyotes at night. Really enjoyed the stay.

No facilities but good cell reception.

Nice place for short stay.

Very close to highway and noise. Large camp area, but can feel a little crowded for a BLM site. I only stayed over night, so it was a convenient place for a rest without going far out of my way for my next stop.

Boondocker's Dream

Quartzsite is a Boondocker's dream. There are countless BLM camping options all around the area. The scaddan wash is located off mitchell mine road which is a dirt road. To get there you have to drive on a Dome Rock Rd (terrible) that hasn't been maintained in a very long time. Most people actually drive on the shoulder which is smoother. Just remember to drive slow and take your time.

I was here during the 2020 Rubber Tramp Rendezvous (RTR) which is a big gathering of RV and Vanlife people.

Cell Coverage: Excellent

Free & Close to Town

Free dispersed camping, just 3.5 miles outside of Quartzsite, with no services available, but lots of space and beautiful views of surrounding mountains. Be sure to register with the Camp Host on duty near the entrance to the area. The major drawback is that you can hear the traffic on Interstate 10. Combine that with the folks running generators and the noise might drive you further out of town. To be fair, many RVers use solar panels for all or at least part of their power needs.

Scaddan Wash is the site of the annual RubberTramp Rendezvous, held during early January. The famed RTR is a gathering of like-minded mobile dwellers living in everything from new Class A motorhomes to small home-made truck campers. Everyone is welcome and workshops are free! It’s pretty awesome and the numbers of people coming to this event have doubled nearly each year.

Sunrises and sunsets are endless and jaw dropping! Easy access back into town for food, gas, firewood, laundry, and just about anything an RVer or camper could need.
