This was a basic campground with access to hiking trails and also not far from the ski resort where there are downhill mountain bike trails. Pit toilets and no running water. Very little verizon service
Nice large developed CG on a beautiful lake. Only 6.1 mi from Pinedale on paved road entire way but some potholes along the way. This is the best CG in area for most folks with TTs and RVs (tents not so much), as cg loops are paved and amenities/camp hosts present. 50 sites total, 16 sites are FF, rest can be reserved. $15 nite/$7.50 senior, 14d limit. Water spigots scattered around but no TT/RV dump and no full hookups. Cell signal is dependent on location..closer to lake or more on south end the cell signal is better. Very nice boat ramp area with parking and a dumpster (only one for entire CG). Day use beach at north end of cg is best for kayaks and other non-motorized water craft launches.
Fremont Group Camp area is on the upper gravel rd just outside the main entrance to the regular Fremont CG. Group camp rate is $35 nite but camping is better suited to TT and RVs as the tent spots appear to be very limited.
Landed on a Thursday, early afternoon. Most all of the sites were occupied or reserved. Only 2 sites were available. Nice lake and mountain view’s. Sites away from the water are mosquito infested. Sites along the shoreline are very nice. Prices vary.
THE MID campground at Fremont Lake, just outside of Pinedale, WY. (Green River lakes, New Fork lake, Willow Lake, Fremont lake, Half Moon and Boulder lake::
the 6 larger, glacial cut lakes in Pinedale area, all 7500 to 8000
Elv).
The. Mid Campground and boat launch area at Fremont Lake has about 52 units, although it seems freq. Under modification by the USFS...
Narrow paved, pull thru and back in sites., on hillside not far above the lake. Interspaced water available, but "community" not per site use. toilets under upgrade. Lots of shade in the pines. Boat launching with care at campground, also being improved.
Tables and firepits all sites.
This is a good place to base out of when fishing the Pinedale area, and is fairly close to town for supplies.
FREMONT LAKE is about 9 miles
long, and fishing can be good or spotty for MACS, & BOWS
It is primarily a trolling lake and not much on Bank fishing, Fremont is around 600ft deep and relatively narrow.
Usually FS has large trash disposals at campground exit.
finding a level pull thru almost non e x istant.
I stayed here in late May, 2018. Although I made a reservation, most sites were unoccupied. Sites are spacious and spaced well apart, some along the lake’s edge. A breeze kicked up but not too fierce. If you are looking to get away and relax without much to do, this campground is a great option.
Get a reservation in advance for the best lakeside sites. Mew pavement has been added so that even big RVs can be comfortably parked: no hookups. A group site is also available for reservations.
Walk to the lakeside beach or launch your boat or kayak at the boat ramp. Jut a short drive into town for dinner or provisions.
Great to take the kids. Bad weather when we went though
This is an absolutely beautiful area: big blue lake, rolling green hills, snow-capped mountains far off. And for the kids who get bored of vistas they can play along the shore and enjoy canoeing. Only a few of the campsites seemed to have good views and those were all taken, but we enjoyed our very forested campsite here. If you don’t have a boat you’ll miss out on the appeal of this place. They had water and outhouses but no showers.
The lake was beautiful and clear but it was packed with kids during the day. Short trip from the center of town so if you need anything you can book over to the market. Thr campground was clean and well taken care of.
I went kayaking here and it was so hot. The temperature was in the 90s . Otherwise the trip was amazing and was a blast. there is a lot of other people and The lake was big and had a lot of people boating
