Convenient, Quiet, Lovely

There are only a handful of sites, but we were fortunate to find one. The road was a little rough, but our lifted trailer of 22 feet in length cleared it just fine. There were other campers present. All were very friendly and quiet. There are hiking trails at the beginning of the road. There is also a potable water station and trash disposal at the Summit Rest Area just up the road. There was some trash at our site, but it was minimal, and we picked it up. Someone left us some great firewood, which we appreciated. We were very comfortable here. We stopped at the trailhead to pay the fee. There were envelopes and a pen.

SiteSecond one from the end.

Beautiful Scenery and saw a Moose

Coordinates are accurate to camp location spot, it is right off the highway, giving you easy access. I recommend getting there early because minimal site locations. It was a bit windy when we went but found a grouping of trees. We also were lucky enough to see a moose walk right behind our campsite. It stopped and noticed us but eventually walked off.

Beautiful & close to highway

We loved this spot! It was super close to the freeway, so a perfect stop for us along our road trip. Yet, still felt like you were in the woods. At night, you could hear some freeway traffic, but I’m a very light sleeper and it didn’t bother me too much. Nice spots spread out from one another with decent distance to create privacy. We were here start of October and probably wouldn’t come much later in the year unless you’re prepared for below freezing weather.

Dispersed camping

Camping behind the rest area. We took the second left onto 705. Wide spot on the left just 150ft off the main road. Weak Verizon service. Stayed one night and would stay again. We were in a 37ft 5er. Managed to bend a scissor jack coming out. No big deal I carry and extra. Follow the directions! The coordinates are about 12 miles off. My Google earth pic has coordinates where we stayed. Found fresh Wolf and Elk tracks at the site!

Easy access

Easy access, close to rest stop, tucked off next to highway but relatively quiet.

Great dispersed camping

This spot was a very pleasant surprise and quite frankly didn’t think this part of Wyoming would be so pretty! The sites are very well spaced so once you’re parked, you feel completely alone. There was a decent amount of road traffic but that wasn’t bothersome to us. We found a lot of good walking/hiking nearby with the closest being the medicine bow picnic area that we walked to from our site. We drove down nearly to the end of the road and are really glad we did because the sites were really nice. Cell crevice wasn’t great on t-mobile. Loved how close to the highway this spot was but how far away it felt. The gravel road was one of the most well maintained we’ve been on. Great easy access with trailers of just about any size. Would return!

Easy to access

Right off of the highway, this small forest road 705F has a bunch of small pullouts with some fire rings and parking spots for small campers and clearings for tents. AT&T has 4 bars LTE, and there are a bunch of burnable logs around. Only downside is some road noise, but very easy to access with only views of nature

Nice primitive spots

Spent one night there at the spot at the very end of the gravel, pretty well maintained road. Our location was excellent, with a small pond nearby and trails. We had no one nearby. Bonus for the closeness to a rest stop (water and flush toilets) and trailhead non flush toilets. Very quiet and easy access. Not that I needed it, but I had 4 bar cell signal available.

Beautiful area

Beautiful area. There are a lot dispersed camping sites, you just need to get there early enough. You need to find a spot with a defined access road to it and a built fire ring. Generator use is allowed. Camp fires are allowed as well as long as the wind allows it.

Easy to find for basic camping

We found a set of campsites specifically on the forest road 705F, near the Hidden Valley picnic area. The sites are free, as they are primitive set-up with only a fire pit. Although there are not facilities immediately there, if you finding camping in this area you are close by to a bathroom at Summit Trailhead and potable water at either Hidden Valley or the Abraham Lincoln rest area. We found a whole list of forest roads that allow dispersed camping 100 feet off-road: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3841999.pdf
