6 mi. outside of LaPointe, WI on Madeline Island.  Shares this mile plus long beach on Lake Superior's southern side with the adjacent State Park.  Lots of facilities.  Must reserve early.  Great island for some casual biking.  Great for star watching on the beach on the big lake at night while looking out at the other Apostle Islands.  

If you need a break from the pastoral, head into LaPointe for some live music & libations at the unique Tom's Burned Down Cafe (a local institution!).
