Amazing Experince

Amazing views from beach and hiking trail. The campsites are extremely well maintained. The facilities rival any campground I have visited. I will say it's at the high end of what I would ever spend to camp. Highly recommend this stop if you are in the Bellingham area.

Great Hiking and Facilities

Camping at the group site closest to the rail lines. Clean facilities and available running water. Less than a mile walk towards trail head for Fragrance and Lost Lake. Completed a 14 mile hike with total elevation gain of about 2600'. Go early in day for hike less crowded. Also note for gear heads, great MTB downhill single track. Will second the train noise. They have to sound horn in the area when passing. Group campsite catches a healthy does of the sound.

Kayaking and hiking, not so great camping

The area is lovely with a day or two worth of nature to explore. Unfortunately the campground is too compact for our tastes. There is also road and train traffic that further killed the atmosphere set by the natural beauty. I would recommend coming here only for the day unless you are in an RV and will have your air conditioning on and windows closed anyway or are a heavy sleeper.

Trains

We didn't mind the noise of the trains at night but many other campers complained. There are also a lot of local activities that take place at this park. The weekend we stayed here there was a mountain bike race taking place. It is something to check in advance if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Larrabee may not be your best choice!

No privacy

This is a beautiful place and beach, worth a day trip. The camground is so compact with no privacy though. I can see RVers liking it, but this tent camper can't handle the amount of feeling like you are camping on top of your neighbors. Great hiking in the area. Bathrooms are decent.

Larrabee State Park

If you walk along some fairly easy trails you can visit a few lakes for fishing and you can drive up a road to the top of the mountain for absolutely beautiful views, kayaking on the bay, nearby boat launch for larger craft. The campground is near the bay though not along the bay, not very big nor modernized but fine. It’s sandwiched between a road and active train tracks so it’s not going to be the most peaceful or quiet campground in this area... The kids actually loved the trains LOL.

Nice secluded campsite

I did a walk in campsite which you have to carry you stuff a little bit. It was a lot cheaper then getting a normal campsite and more secluded then other campsites. I really enjoyed camping here.

Convenient camping, beautiful coast!

Beautiful park with rocky cliffs and ocean views. Part of the fun is just the drive down Chuckaunt to get there. One of the most beautiful roads in the US. Camping feels a bit crowded but still a great getaway with beautiful stargazing.

Woodsy Campground on Chuckanut Drive

This campground is woodsy and sites are close together. It is better for tenters. If you have kayaks, bring them! Gorgeous to paddle along the cliffs of Chuckanut Drive! There are train tracks very close by, so expect to hear the trains all day and at night.

Beautiful location - Trains

Love this location. Right on the water. Right in the mountains. Can't ask for better sites. They have running water, bathrooms, etc. Close to Beautiful Bellingham and amazing hikes. There is however, a train that runs right by the campground and it is loud!
