Quiet site off Highway 20
One of our favorite PNW campgrounds. We like to camp in the right hand loop which is more shaded and suitable for our 24’ pop up truck camper setup. The camp hosts make sure there is tp and clean toilets. The water is tasty and is tested. There are garbage dumpsters available. The sites are spacious enough but some aren’t level but the tenting area is, though. The sites do backup to the woods so you have privacy.
The sites are nestled in between pines and other native vegetation. In the spring the wildflowers are scattered about. Do be aware of black bears and rattlesnakes as posted by the kiosk. Since it is set back from Highway 20, there is not as much noise as at Early Winters or Lone Fir. Instead, you can hear Early Winters Creek.
Sites are $12 or $6 with Senior Pass. We have come in at either end when the water is shut off and it is hit or miss if Iron Ranger is covered or not meaning no fees if it is. Still, we like to support our public lands so tuck in extra the next time.
