Imagine: Friday, July 3rd. Busiest camping weekend of the year. Evening. Desperate camper checks out 4 crowded, very FULL campgrounds, including the beautiful Lower Falls. Nowhere to go and 3 friends coming the next day expecting him to have worked his campground magic. He had a profile on The Dyrt, after all. Talk about pressure. This ultimate planner is left to wander for 3 hours. It's getting dark. He's having nightmares of having to go back to civilization. He listens to calming music on his car stereo. Doesn't help at all. Enter Trout Lake Creek campground. Quiet, unassuming and, miraculously, with 3 campsites left. Desperate camper takes one... other two fill up within 15 minutes... the angels sing down from the heavens. Saved! He wakes up to find campsite is within 15 minutes of the wonderful Mt. Adams Ranger Station, a half hour away from a gorgeous hike up Mt. Adams, with nearby huckleberry fields, dispersal camping opportunities galore, waterfalls, lava fields... When his friends arrive, our desperate camper stands tall, acting like the awesome Trout Lake Creek campsite was his plan all along.
