Surprisingly nice
We made reservations for this campground less than a week before arriving and really didn’t know how it would be. I was very surprised at the high quality and upkeep. Clean bathrooms and showers, grounds are well kept, and individual campsites have good privacy with thick and tall vegetation in between. Stayed in the“Opossum” loop, which were strictly non-eclectic sites for tents and small trailers. There seemed to be a lot of hosts (saw at least 4 host RVs). Hosts were very accommodating and helpful with info about sites, trails, and nearest store. There are multiple trailheads from the campground, to include a trail to the Mount Rogers’ summit. We went there in mid-August and the weather was clear and temperatures from 65-82 degrees. An overall outstanding campground.
