We stayed down the road a bit farther from kings bottom. King’s bottom didn’t look very appealing to hammock camping. We landed at Kane creek which is not listed at this site for review. It is extremely expensive. Weekends are $50/night for premium sites -with limits on how many people and vehicles you can have or else a higher cost or fee for them too- (trees/picnic tables/potable? water access/fire pit) or $45 for basic sites (open dirt parking lot) with the vault toilet between the two on a dirt ridge divider. The premium sites are pretty cool if you get the right one. There are only 2-3 good sites worth having towards the back. You need to have 4wd or AWD to get through the DEEP 1-2’ red rock silt sand. It’s fantastically soft and pillowy to walk on but we watched several vehicles get stuck during our stay. We had to coach a few to be able to drive out of it. They didn’t stay there needless to say. I’m talking about dry weather too, it wasn’t muddy, the sand is just that soft and deep. There are signs saying that it’s a low spot for the flood basin and can flash flood you out of there and to be forewarned you may die in the case of a storm haha... the weekday fees are $45/$40. We figured out pretty quickly that the site is not supervised or checked on or maintained in any way shape or form. Not one even vaguely official human came by even once. We were there for the better part of a whole week. Great views, quiet spot, respectful campers, awesome hammock trees, temps were perfect in mid June, tons of shade to keep your camping gear fresh while you’re out, felt safe and secure... not so much like the closer to town ones that may get raided by shady locals which was nice. Up the road is a nice intermediate level off-road trail (Honda accords shall not pass, Subaru Forester did fine but definitely is used it’s abilities) there is a small rock up the road with petroglyphs. Some bouldering if you’re into that. Down the road 5-7min you’re smack in downtown. Turn at the McDonald’s and Burger King and follow that road all the way down to the site. Easy directions for people in town and easy to remember. If you’re logical you’ll understand what could make this site a great and affordable experience. All you have to do is put two and two together and it will make this most expensive site in town ever, the best bang for your buck by far. Many reviews of this site say the owner of the site is a scammer and a thief. He probably lives down the road aways where you’ll see a RV next to a paneled up house where the reserved group sites are. We always saw someone tooling around over there. From what I read I guess it’s good we didn’t meet him
